That Tyrone attendance is funny. Wasn't there almost the same at the Tyrone v Dublin league game?

Funny a championship match against a decently supported Down team only gets 13k when they can get over 10k for league games. I'd expect around 18k at the replay and maybe the bad weather put the fair weather fans off.

Is that seriously what the official attendance was? If that is the case then Healy Park only holds 15,000 as from where I was in the stand the place was full bar some room behind one of the goals.

Good point actually. The two sides were packed and one goal end wasn't far off it. The other end was the only place sparsely attended. You'd wonder where the rest would all fit!

behind one goal had hardly anybody and behind the goal the other end only had people on bars really wasnt much in between the bars to say it was packed like

Hill16man Down had a big support too and certainly comparable to what Dublin brought that day. I just find it strange Tyrone are very wel suppoted for the league but don't see much of an increase for the championship anymore. It's like the bandwagon they use to have doesn't exist. Mayo v Tyrone all ireland semi was a good example. Poor Tyrone crowd at it and vastly outnumbered by Mayo fans.

Anyway the end you say had nobody on it actually had people on the bars http://www.sportsfile.com/id/868027/ and the other end that you described as being only on the bars was pretty full.

its the first round in ulster 10-15 thousand is the usual crowd for it so I would say that was exactly what you would expect.
the game was on tv also that has a big bearing over the last decade the amount of live games reduces crowds
as going back a few years people hadnt go the option to stay at home so they all went.
I didnt say had NOBODY i said had hardly anybody

Hill16 - Behind one of the goals was packed and behind the other goals had a decent crowd, hard to see were they would fit 7,000 more into it.

Regarding the Tyrone support, we have a great core support, one of the best which would go to all games, league, McKenna Cup etc, but yes our bandwagon support is getting smaller by the year. But I suppose that is why they are bandwagon supporters, only come out when winning. I wouldn't be expecting a huge Tyrone crowd in Newry, it will be a decent core support from us but not huge. I don't think we will bring as many as Down did to Omagh.

Even though we got to the semi-final last year there was no buzz at all in Tyrone, very little flags or anything, nobody had belief we would win. There is very little faith in Tyrone about this current crop of players and as such the bandwagoners stay away.

16,025 in Thurles today 3/4's Cork crowd I'd say would expect a big Waterford crowd for the replay now Sunday week.

I'd say the official attendance of 16,025 was correct for Thurles yesterday. Ardan O'Coinnean biggest stand was fairly full. The camera was on this side of the field so you wouldn't see that much on TV.

The garbage re the Waterford huge support may cease now. Many a match I went to in the 90's vs them and they would be lucky to have a few hundred in the stadium.
Cork, Mayo, Dublin, Limerick and Wexford are the only counties that travel in any real numbers. In fairness to Wexford, Limerick and Mayo that is done in the back if very little success.

The next match should have a few more at it. Did ye see who'll be on the TV that day? The prospect of having to watch Dublin vs. Laois will send every man, woman and child in Cork and Waterford running towards Thurles.
