1336185 5 players have obiviously did not take a chance to play Leinster incase they risk injury during a league campaign, thats the ins and outs of it!!! But sure peak in the league lads fizzle out in the Leinster and make a run in the back door until you meet a decent team, out to be a good season. Oh and make sure McGeeney sulks about every referee decision.

YOU'LL HAVE TO SHOUT. CAN'T HEAR YOU ALL THE WAY DOWN IN DIVISION THREE.

1336176 Here I'll be the first to admit Meath have had a poor decade, the fact is Kildare under McGeeney are portrayed as all Ireland contenders, when they have won sweet f all. I don't think you'll find anyone in Meath saying we are all ireland contenders, but it seems kildare think they're too good to represent their province. Kildare average team at best!!!

I think you'll find that generally Division Three teams are not considered AI Ireland contenders.

Zing!!!

Take a bow Sedico bud!

You boys should be saving your voice for September, likely!!! Unless I see the doctor that diagnoised these injuries I'll be a doubting Thomas, its strange how all the Kildare selected could not attend, is there a dose of inflated heads going around the Curragh?

We did actually have a team in an All Ireland final last September.

Do keep up.

Passion is a positive obsession. Obsession is a negative passion.

It's looking as though you're more obsessed with Kildare than you are passionate about Meath.

That can't be healthy...

tg4 up to yesterday i would have agreed with you but they could hav easily shown the inter provincial semi finals on sunday, they also last night showed highlights of the weekends matches and with connaught winning 1-20 v 1-17 they ended their highilghts never gave a full time score and advertised the st brigids v crossmaglen match coming up after the break went for a break and did not show the end of the leinster v connaught match, now to me that is very strange to do as anybody watching would have presumed connaught won the match.
on the subject of rte taking footage from sky thats fine but on their own news channel on saorview they had images of the inter pro games so they obviously had cameras their at the match and also why couldnt they take tg4s coverage the same as they take skys coverage?
its not up to them to prmote it i agree but it is up to them to give you the irish sports news and that was irish sports news in gaa for the day surely they could have shown footage.they dont tell you what happened in the dail and show footage of what happened in the british parliment so why is the sports done that way.
the reason more people support british soccer clubs is not because they are better (as if you wanted to support better surely you would support spanish football as its far more attractive and has bigger and better names) its simply becuase its what is being thrown at them in our media, notice the people in ireland only support a certain three or four teams there is not a variety of teams they support its only the ones who get all the media limelight man utd liverpool celtic and chelsea or arsenal maybe.i dont know why you speak of korea my point is its not international news they show its only british sports news if it was international they would give you reports from sport played in countrys outside of britain

Ok maybe instead of saying better teams I should have phrased it as "more accessible" teams.

Irish fans hadn't really been exposed to Spanish league matches on a regular basis until a few years ago. When Sky starting blowing the Premiership trumpet and started bombarding us with Super Sunday packages it was for the most part the only European league people could watch week in week out, save for the Champions League there was very little coverage of other European teams.

It's being thrown at people in our media simply because the people at the top of those teams and leagues are able to do so. They can package and promote it properly, and use the media really well to make people think it's great. But again that's not entirely the fault of the media. In most cases there are just run as a business - they look to maximise profits, an easy way to that is to the already attractively packaged English / Spanish / European football product and just pass it on to the consumer. Something the GAA doesn't look to do, instead of looking it as a sporting organisation all the time, look at is as a product. How do you get your product to penetrate the market place? You promote it. It's not enough for the lads in Croke Park to simply say "right here's the interpros, let's wait for the bidding war between RTÉ, TG4 and TV3 to start."

I don't think either of us is going to budge on this debate. I blame the GAA and to a lesser extent the media, you blame the media and to a lesser extent the GAA. Fair summation?

As far as sports news on an international level goes, there's not really a lot RTÉ and the likes can do, all they can is show the most popular stories in the little time they have, there's no way they could fit in stuff like the NFL and basketball and other world sports, and there's no need for them to as people interested in those sports aren't likely to be heavily reliant on Irish media outlets for news and updates.

Connaught had a large number of players 'unavailable' and had to draft in 3 players from London.

Shame on Galway, Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim and Roscommon !!

exactly you make my point when you say irish fans hadnt been exposed to spanish soccer until sky took it on,this is my point about the irish public they are like sheep and the same as the so called irish national media they also are like sheep thus following everything the british media does thus in turn our public follow what the media does all leading to the way it is now people following english soccer and disgarding our own.
you also state theres not much rte can do on sprts on international level and say they show the most popular but i find fault with that as they show the most popular sports in britian if the gaa is the most popular sport in ireland surely it should get the most coverage, thats how it works in britian soccer is more popular then rugby so they give soccer more coverage where as in ireland they think becuase something is more poular in britian it must have to be shown here more.

What arrogance? Where's there any evidence of it? Who's displaying it?

There's a big difference between being arrogant and just wanting to set the record straight.

Still peddaling "untruths" even after Gilroy nailed them. Terrible to be reaching from the depths of Div 3.

Having supported Meath in many a Croke Park game (especially v Cork a few times !!) its so funny reading the persecution complex RD.

McGeeney has already stated that any of the lads could play. It had nothing to do with him. Gilroy has also acknowledged that the guys contacted gave their own personal reasons...which he accepted as genuine.

Compunding your error there mate... Couldn't wait to put the boot into Kildare could you?

And while you might expect that here the likes of the official GAA website, the GAA president and John Greene and Martin Breheny should definitely have known better. Been an absolute pathetic display which has shown a real agenda against the Kildare management in some pretty influential places around the game.
