Another huge game from Bernard and congrats to Leinster on a fine come back
Great to see him playing so well and it's all game time under his belt
Something he had precious little of in 2012 with travelling/injury

He's getting back to his very best and he's a hungry man.

He's been fairly hungry anytime Ollie Lyons was marking him.....in fact he was starved !
______

Haha... We'll see. :) All the best

Going from the attendance yesterday I think it's quite clear that this competition either needs to be ended now or completely revamped. In its current format it's surely only a matter of time before it dies off.

Considering this thread has received more than three times more views than both football semis combined really says something about the level of public interest in the interpros. Which is fully understandable considering nobody would put their province ahead of their club / country.

If the GAA want people to take this seriously they really need to look at the timing of the matches, and the possibility of scheduling double headers (four matches in four different venues yesterday?).

Fair play again to the Kildare players for giving the match yesterday the only real bit of promotion it got, I doubt many of us would have known about it otherwise.

There was an Ulster V Munster double header in Armagh yesterday. Leinster V Connacht could've been a double header in Mullingar or Tullamore. Longford could then have hosted the Cross V Brigids game on Saturday.

It's clear here from all the posts on this thread that the majority think the Inter Pros is a waste of time and should be binned and perhaps they are right however while the GAA along with Martin Donnelly are willing to give it life support then the all counties should make a couple of their players available for it. Kildare should be the first in the queue with available players just in case they need to draw down another €300k from HQ this year to balance the books...

We should be alright this year. Playing in Division 1 is improving the aul cashflow.

Sure these dodgy county boards around the country have a lot to answer for and splurging away huge money and getting into heavy unsustainable debt

There are several other high profile counties that will have the beggar bowl extended.

if in doubt

who cares about the attendaces two cracking games in the football to equal the two cracking games on saturday in the club semi finals.
there were not big crowds at them games either but does that mean we should scrap the club championships too

And yes, Kildare are too good for the competition. But so is everybody else. Nobody should have to waste their valuable time with this rubbish.

got news Daith, kildare arent too good for this competition.
some of the greatest gaa players of all time lived for these games.
it has to be revamped yes, but your comment is arrogant to say the least.

I see the truth is beginging to emere.

John D wanted to rest his injuries and the other Kildare players invited were just not available on both week-ends.

Interesting that Kildare offered other available players who were refused so the heading on this is even more accurate in that Gilroy decided that Kildare players would not play !!!!

The thread was started by a self proclaimed Kildare hater. It was obviously started to stoke up more vemon. He was joined by the other Kildare hater. Their creditibility has been shot down. I dont believe any genuine Gaa fan could hate another county. I call them sunshine supporters. Their opinions shouldnt be taken seriously anymore.

Surely they give a somewhat accurate indication of the average GAA fans interest in the competition?

It's for a good cause and some of the best players in the country are playing, surely the GAA should be looking to revamp it and promote it a bit better rather than relying on gossip to build it up and give it some much needed attention.

Obviously we shouldn't look to scrap the club championships. They're meaningful competitions and for the most part form the backbone of the entire association. Nearly every GAA fan in the country will be able to relate to their club. Very few of them can relate to their province though, that's one of the big problems.

The interpros should in theory be a very popular series if organised properly and played at a better time of the year.

Then again, "In theory, communism works... In theory."

Around the same time as the Donal Keogan for Player of the Year and the Graham Reilly for President threads I'd imagine.

thats a rubbish statement you are making, gilroy comes out and defends the arguement sticking up for kildare and you somehow find a way of trying to turn it on the same man by saying he is the one stopping kildare players!!!! he picked 5 they couldnt go,what you want him to do pick another 5 who arent good enough just to have kildare representation,he had only 5 from dublin aswell asked so dont lie.

who cares though the players want this competition they enjoy it they are the ones who will keep it alive,if fans are too lazy or need media attention to get them off their backsides thats their own loss, the players feel this is a competition they want to be part of i think people should be happy that the players are being put ahead of supporters on this.i agree they need to market the competition better but they also need to market every other competition better including the club championships.there is also an onus on the national media to give more coverage to the competition after all they are irish national media and to promote a meaningless cup competition in a foreign country(that sir rolex didnt even bother entering his team in a few years ago) ahead of the most popular sport in the country your viewers are from that is showcaseing the best players in each province is bad practice

What an absolute farce this thread has been. The only saving grace has been that the journalists in a particular newspaper title, the official GAA website and even the president of our fine association all followed suit, feigned outrage and repeated and propagated this story. All completely false. Really shows how eager some bitter people are to put the boot into Kildare or how desperate they are for a story about the county.

Pathetic...
