Banning anyone is bloody daft unless they come on and try and post truly hurtful/obscene/racist hatespeach. Simple as that. Hoganstand is a sum of it's parts and those parts include the occasional idiotic post from Mayo (OK, more than occasional), or anywhere else. Personally I think this site would be a very drab place without the likes of Snuf and Ulsterman.

If someone's posts continually upset you the answer is simple: STOP READING THEM. If you can't then I would most humbly suggest the problem lies not with the poster.

Do people really think that the Admin can ban people? They can ban a username but not the person.

How many e-mail addresses do each of you have? I have two work addresses and two personal addresses so what's to stop me from creating numerous accounts? You can try ip filtering but that's not fool proof either, my laptop has a different IP to my smart phone which has a different IP to my two work desktops, all using different DHCP servers and proxies. If you ban a username then they will just come back under a different user.

I take Snuf's comments like I take a lot of other users on this forum, with a pinch of salt. I do get annoyed when some of his posts change the direction/topic of a thread that I'm enjoying but such is life, I just stop reading that thread. So let snuf continue as is, better the devil you know ...

Snuf, i like you as a poster, you've decent wit and your a dub but like ive said before you've got awful hard to listen to of late! Your problem is your rhetoric never changes and it gets annoying as different topics vary from serious, fun to a mixture of everything. The problem lies when the rarity of a decent thread on this forum does get going its ruined by posters who engage in shabby oneliners about their counties domination, superior race etc and all the other ***** that goes with that. But you do make a good point in that this is an internet forum so anything goes. Is it easy for people to be banned, you can ban an IP address and it can be quite obvious from how "new posters" can sometimes have the exact same viewpoint as a very regular poster. Yes if you ban someone they can set up new accounts but the mods should know from the style of post if they are new or not

Speaking of bans on free speech has anybody seen that wikipedia has gone on strike today and google in the US have a black banner on their opening page as a protest at US Govt plans to limit free information!
