That's great news for football fans and Michael personally. Hope it lasts without reaction. Tyronetim (Tyrone) - Posts: 1254 - 16/04/2012 09:52:16 1152807 Link 0 |
Great news on Michael Meehan's return for Galway - played against Laois second half and scored from play and was joined by his U-21 mate Armstrong. Tyronetim (Tyrone) - Posts: 1254 - 02/05/2012 10:39:08 1164425 Link 0 |
They get those two boys up and running at championship pace and they'll win Connaught and have a good rattle at the All-Ireland. Already some very talented footballers in that squad. They're one of these counties that can come on the scene very quickly. derfil1 (Kildare) - Posts: 1612 - 02/05/2012 10:44:57 1164431 Link 0 |
will he start against Roscommon next weekend? Gael85 (Dublin) - Posts: 1433 - 15/05/2012 21:37:07 1173111 Link 0 |
He's on the bench I believe but all progress. Nice one to spring when the game opens up. Tyronetim (Tyrone) - Posts: 1254 - 16/05/2012 10:51:39 1173262 Link 0 |
Great to hear he's on the bench at least, hope he gets a run, natural football talent. 51longago (Mayo) - Posts: 2981 - 16/05/2012 11:10:17 1173297 Link 0 |

Well he played great on Sunday. gigoer (Wexford) - Posts: 1998 - 23/05/2012 17:38:11 1179050 Link 0 |
Not sure about that Gigoer..read an article yesterday on what he needs to do, can do, and the pain killers he has to take to make it bearable. He plans to play his first full game for Caltra in the championship and that will tell the tale. Tyronetim (Tyrone) - Posts: 1254 - 23/05/2012 17:58:36 1179072 Link 0 |
His future didn't look to doubtful against the Rossies the other day. Great to see himself and Joyce linking up again, they play proper route one football. And keep an eye on young Mark Hehir as well, big things expected from him. Sergeant_Slash (Cavan) - Posts: 2182 - 23/05/2012 18:01:41 1179075 Link 0 |
Sad day for football and Galway to see Michael Meehan retire.Unreal talent Gael85 (Dublin) - Posts: 1433 - 22/03/2014 10:23:26 1563334 Link 0 |
no county hurling or football has had any player of that calibre who suffered so much. has not been fully fit since 2009 at the tender age of 24. major loss to us during that period when we had lost the mojo from the glorious team of 1998-2001. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1950 - 22/03/2014 11:05:43 1563348 Link 0 |
Just to clarify, He has not retired, he is taking a complete break in order to give a long standing ankle problem a chance to heal properly, he hasnt ruled out making a return at some stage!! Belclare1 (Galway) - Posts: 1626 - 22/03/2014 11:08:54 1563350 Link 0 |

I'm convinced he would have been one of the best forwards of his era had he been fit for most of his career. I'll never forget when he made Marc O Sé (the best corner back I've ever seen) look like a rookie in that game against Kerry a few years back. Plagued by injury for his football career.....such a shame for him and galway but also all football lovers. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11249 - 22/03/2014 12:50:49 1563373 Link 0 |
Hope he can return in 2015 always an exciting player to watch suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1677 - 22/03/2014 13:07:44 1563376 Link 0 |
He was utterly unplayable on his day. I remember he hit 3-02 against Down in the U-21 All-Ireland final in 2005. Hope he can make it back, but it doesn't sound good. Himself and Ronan Clarke should have been the stars of their generation but both plagued by ankle problems. peter_venkman (Down) - Posts: 320 - 22/03/2014 13:54:22 1563387 Link 0 |
Premature end to a great player, unfortunate! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8603 - 22/03/2014 14:50:39 1563406 Link 0 |
Micheal Meehan is my favorite player after gooch a total class act , I wish him well and hopefully we'll see him on the field of play again next year, it's amazing all the players that the new black card would suit like gooch Meehan Wallace and Kilkenny are all going to miss out this year.
