Good game by all accounts. Fair play to Sars and Kilanerin. How many of these lads would be eligible for County U-20 setup?

Draw for u21 championship was a bit one sided, shels, barnown,st martins, Gorey ballynastraig Gaels on one side, then st Anne's castletown sars on the other side, surely seed a few teams

2 or 3 of the best Sars lads only played Junior this year when they could have played Senior if they wanted.

Messy situation trying to seed teams before a ball is kicked.

Gorey weren't competitive at all against Kilanerin. Martins were strong and Barntown. Shels played the Sarsfields in a quarter final so they were on the same side. Kilanerin deserving winners of that grade

Definitely.
Martins beat GB at home by 1 pt with GB having 2 sent off 2nd half.
Then Kilanerin only beat Martins at home on penalties.
Sars were on same side as Shels, actually beat them in the 1/4 Final.

Seems like a lot of strong teams on one side alright. How was the draw made? I'd say the best team won it in the end but it would be interesting to see the premier results for this age group back through u-19, u-17 etc. I don't think Kilanerin won it all the way through but I could be wrong. I think Gorey won it at minor level.

On another note I was delighted to see that the game was played in Wexford Park. Seemed like the County Board were showing the competition the respect it deserves but it's disappointing to see that the only mention of it on social media comes from a viral post about the state of the cup that was presented. No sign on Wexford GAA accounts that the game was even played.

In fairness, the Wexford GAA Facebook page has photos from the match, and a "congratulations" message to Ballinastragh Gaels. The timestamp shows that the post went up on Sunday afternoon. There's stuff up too about the other two U21 finals played at the weekend.

I agree that the trophy was very poor. Just made from plastic?! And I think the cups for the other two finals might have been the same?

As for the draw - draws for U21 hurling & football operated the same way this year. 16 teams started out in Premier/Division 1, with eight top seeds in Pot 1, and eight other teams in Pot 2. The first round was eight matches of a Pot 1 team versus a Pot 2 team, with the eight winners going into the Premier quarter-finals, and the eight losers going into Div. 1 quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals onwards were open draw. Possible then that the majority of the "strong" teams would end up on one side of that draw, but that's always the case with an open draw anyway.
