I was speaking to a Referee the other day about all the bad things that can happen to a Referee an d he laughted and said we do it for the enjoyment. What enjoyment says I and he responded If you took it serious you woulf not put a whistle in your mouth. Most or nearly all that is said to you is said in the heat of teh moment and sure nobody means it.. Now this what a Referee said, he also added that its a lovely thing to go out and be in control of the game. What he dident like was when the game was over people alleging that you influenced a the result with some of ( his) decisions
What has happened i Cooketown away up in County Tyrone has surely crossed the line. While I understand a person was arrested and caution has to be excised in relation to what is said, and the culprit has relations as has the victim its unfortunate that it happened. I feel that underage games in general are a source of aggression towards Referees. Most of the parents dont know one another and nobody wants to tell an offender to shut up.
