Replying To ExiledInWex: "English football is way bigger than horse racing here. Horse racing is a sport with huge interest among certain groups of people and a bunch of people who put a fiver on the national and Cheltenham and that's it. Maybe you meant horse racing is more indigenous here?"
Horse racing is only a vehicle for gambling and would cease to exist very quickly if gambling was banned tomorrow, so even calling it a sport is clutching a bit.

With the risks jockeys put themselves through that last sentence is unbelievably insulting.
Going back to the original point on this, the GAA coverage is deplorable with RTE. But I dont begrude the horse racing coverage, as that is huge here. However Ive never understood the depth of coverage it gives to English Premier League soccer. Yes, a lot of people in Ireland support a PL team, but there are many more suitable outlets to follow this, and many people do.
I suppose when you go on the RTE website, sure there are pages reviewing EastEnders and Coronation Street and pictures of UK c-list celebrities, so I hold little hope.

Ridiculous post. I watched Cheltenham today and I witnessed sport of the highest calibre.
