Have you ever played hurling - competitively? If so have you ever brought down a sliotar that has actually fully crossed over the bar. Remember the rule is the ball has to go fully across the line. I'm 6' 2" and I certainly think I would struggle, even I'm my prime. And I was a reasonable club senior & intermediate hurler in my day. Young Clark that was in goals on Sunday must be 5' 8" with a push. He certainly didn't do it on Sunday. Which was proven by the slo mo's. How difficult is it to comprehend that Hawkeye can determine above scenario? It has done in the past. Claretandblue (Westmeath) - Posts: 1512 - 25/05/2022 11:25:13 2420121 Link 0 |
It's difficult to comprehend because TG4 confirmed after the game that they were told the technology on the day wasn't able to detect whether the sliotar has passed the crossbar. This is information TG4 received from officials at the game. This has been mentioned a few times in this thread and you keep ignoring it. I included a link to their comment in a previous post. As I've said, the GAA could put any confusion to bed with a very simple clarification. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2059 - 25/05/2022 12:16:46 2420128 Link 1 |
Doesn't matter what you played..:: if the ball goes behind the crossbar it's a score and if it doesn't it's not….. simple but can Hawk eye determine this…? If not then it's a flawed system

I find it hard to believe that Hawk Eye technology can not do this. I do this all the time with the option of leading or trailing edge sensing. Leading edge is where the signal is activated when the front edge is detected. Trailing edge is where the leading edge is detected but the signal is not activated until the signal goes off again. A sensor in the ball could make sure nothing else triggers it like a hand or a hurley. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 2672 - 27/05/2022 14:06:44 2420494 Link 0 |
Of course I did but what you are suggesting makes absolutely no sense…. The real issue is …. Is there a problem with hawk eye… ? Can it determine a score properly..?
