Minor Hurling Attendance Record

(Oldest Posts First)

Over 12,400 paying customers at last nights Leinster Minor between Laois and Offaly.

This excludes under 16s.

Adding the 12,400 with at least 4 to 5 thousand under 16s. Giving approx 17 to 18 thousand in attendance.

Made for a wonderful atmosphere.

Anyone know if this is some kind of record for a stand alone minor match ? Hurling or Football

It was brilliant to see such a crowd..I do remember the munster finals of 2013/2014 between limerick and Waterford attracted huge interest, don't know if it was at 12500 though..

Place looked full. Great to see,

Saw Offaly beat Dublin. Serious team with some excellent hurlers through the team. I'll be shouting for them.

It was great to see the place packed and the chants of Uibh Fhaili Uibh Fhaili. Its great to see such a spectacle for an underage game. Some fantastic hurling and scores in it too.

Around 20,000 were in attendance in Ennis for the All Ireland minor football final replay in 2006 Kerry v Roscommon. I was there and Cusack park was packed and we won. Well done to Offaly last night. Great to see a novel Leinster minor hurling final.

I don't think Cullen Park can hold 20,000 and that is before there wasomits placed on pitches due to H and S concerns.

Yes and ye all drove through Loughrea clogging up the town instead of using the bypass to get onto the Gort Road.
