What Would You Serve At The Masters Dinner?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

In case you want an overview…

I like to eat well, but some of my best meals have been simple and well prepared… steak and potatoes done correctly is a tough meal to beat, and you know Augusta would do a good job with that (and source good beef!)

I think having them try to stretch their skill set would blow up… I love GOOD BBQ, but I don't think Augusta has a pitmaster… same with Asian food, I just don't think they have the skillset to do it well.

Honestly, I think something simple like Fried Chicken would be fun, as it can be done really well and be exceptional and isn't something I order often (also, it's the south… so they better know how to fry a chicken!)…

Honestly, I think I'd go Caesar Salad, Fried Chicken or Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus, Biscuits and then something fun for dessert (Key Lime Pie and Buttermilk Pie off the top of my head… traditional southern dishes that can be done well). I'd love to work with a chef who wanted to have fun and put their own twists on the meals.

Seems like it would be a fun thing to do! I just hope someone is on hand to cut DJs food for him, as I'm not sure he should be holding sharp objects before a major tournament (I'm kidding, MPR… mostly). Also, if you like food and cooking, check out Kenji Lopez Alt. His book is excellent.

I think you posted your mash to the wrong address, for a start we eat Humble Pie here when applicable, you should try some. ( asap.)

When you say BBQ you mean B&Q, try it you'll find an ideal skill saw and a pitmaster keenly priced, same goes for Asian food, same skill saw and stainless steel chopsticks.

As for fried chicken, Buy a Ritchie Kavanagh CD, plenty of tips from, "Me Granny Was A Plucker" or "Chicken talk," and more.

If you'd like to work with a cheff, you come across as having enough savvy for that, Caesars Palace is out so try any chipper and you should get a job washing the dishes for the cheff, worth a try.

Try J Lopez but she is likely to tell you to get that chip(s) off your shoulder and skidaddle, - Pronto.

Top thread; best in a long time. Hopefully, those Wexford whingers don't come on here and try to monopolize it, like they do with so many other threads. Your cream pie could be turned sour fairly fast!

But why restrict yourself to large, when you can have extra-large?

Additional dishes I'd recommend are Revenge. Its a dish best served cold apparently. Then there is Pigs Ear. Galway Hurlers traditionally make that around AI Final day. Or there's Pie in the Sky which is a Mayo favourite.
For a beverage, try sucking Diesel, but be warned its "fierce expensive got "
You can take all of this with a pinch of salt

In all fairness Mayo are always very consistent in this regard, always serving up absolute Tripe on All Ireland final day.

Well considering how often you post on the Wexford page yourself, you would hardly be complaining if they did.

I'd like to serve up some poached Aussie rules scouts for continuously plundering some our best footballing talent, male and female - Australian rules scouts poach well.
I realise we're an amateur organisation but as a coach who, along with thousands of others, has put in the sweat, laughter, tears, endless miles, nodules on vocal chords, memberships, helping lads outside of GAA, from u-6 to adult, to then have those Aussie rules guys come in and just lift the talent we've helped foster, encourage and nurture for 15-20 years without so much as a donation to club or county is gauling. It's ridiculous. Another thread needs to open on this - AFL and AFWL have to compensate us for our thousands of hours of work put in to players

Would you not be proud of coaching a young lad/girl and helping in there development to possibly becoming a full time professional athlete instead of been bitter about it?

Galway have a poor record in All Ireland senior hurling Finals. Mayo have a poor record in All Ireland senior football Finals. No doubt about that.

Not at all bitter about it, just want AFL / AFWL to make an appropriate donation to club and County for the years and years of work put in. The player themselves is awarded separately, and rightly so.

That will never happen.

It is understandable though that you mention it. The reason that it can't happen is the word "amateur".

I see that even in the soccer league in Ireland, a club can get good money if a player transfers overseas to a bigger club. It's the same sport to the same sport. That's how soccer runs its business.

If the GAA incentivizes AFL/AFWL transfers, are the Irish not essentially saying, 'good for you. Go to the bigger/better league'? And that's what would happen if clubs/coaches were given financial compensation for producing great potential. Would such a situation not just massively increase the Down Under market?

There has never been a massive exodus of Gaelic male players, even since the late great Jim Stynes joined the AFL, so many moons ago now. So why so much comment about it? Why so much worry?

From a purely American perspective (my perspective, actually), and looking at how you guys treat the ladies' football vis-a-vis the MAN's game, I'd bet that the ladies exodus could be quite heavy compared with the men's exodus.

Did any men's manager ever come out with comments like a certain women's manager came out with over the last few days? I know Mickey Harte dislikes the AFL game, but he always wished the Tyrone LAD going down there the very best, over all the years that transfers happened.

Is it because Murray is dealing with women, that he feels more entitled to more strongly condemn the AFL game move than if he were managing a team of men? Would he have the balls 'not to begrudge' a McEntee or Keoghan (sorry, I don't know that many Meath players (male)) these days, were it one of them and not a lady that he was dealing with!

A Supermacs Snackbox meal. with some curry sauce. There would be no Mayo near my plate. It would make the whole thing a shambles.
