Offaly have Division 1 experience. Kerry came up short against Westmeath twice in the league. Offaly are rightly favourites.

2 well taken goals by Offaly and a missed penalty by Kerry is the story of the first half here in Tralee. 0-15 to 2-12.

Amazing drama in the last 15 odd minutes. Kerry come back to level it from 10 points down then Offaly snatch it at the very death! Hard luck to Kerry well done Offaly!

Offaly scored 2 well worked goals in the first half. Kerry then missed a penalty. 0-15 to 2-12.
Kerry started the second half well. Taking the lead 0-19 to 2-12.
Offaly effort for a point hit the post. From the rebound, Offaly snatched a goal.
A poor turnover by Kerry let Offaly through for a 4th goal. Offaly leading by 9 points, it looked like curtains for Kerry.
Kerry though had other ideas. 3 points down going into injury time, Kerry scored 3 points to level the game.
Offaly responded with a point that was to be the winning of the game.
Offaly had some go to moves during the game that were very well worked from the training ground. In the first quarter, Offaly often played the puck out to the corner back at worked a score from there. Kerry have Offaly way too much space on those puck outs.
After half-time, Kerry pushed up on the Offaly puck out and had more joy from that.
After Kerry incredibly levelled in extra time, Offaly had the composure to play the puck out to the corner back and they worked the match winning score from there.
Kerry came up short against Westmeath in the league semi-final. Today was in the same category, only more dramatic and important obviously.
Molumphy came in for criticism after the Down loss. There are signs there though of greenshoots and something positive to build on.
Antrim, Offaly and Westmeath have shown learnings from Division 1 hurling. Kerry must learn these lessons from Antrim, Offaly and Westmeath.

Great report.Joe Mcdonagh is a brilliant competition between teams with the ambition to reach the top level and it drives us all on.We suffered hugely to get out and might be back with ye next year(Hopefully not)if as seems likely its an Offaly v Antrim final although Carlow are quite capable of winning in Tullamore. But there is no doubt hurling is improving in our counties despite Croke Park not giving the competition the platform it deserves.

Some serious hurlers in the Joe McDonagh too.

Killian Doyle is some hurler.

The Boyles from Kerry are unreal hurlers too.

Antrim only beat Offaly by a late score. Of Kerry get a win up there against an already qualified Antim they could qualify with a Carlow win.

So permutations going into the weekend as best as I can make out.

Antrim - Already into final

Offaly: Win or draw against Carlow will secure a final spot.

Kerry: Kerry beat Antrim and Carlow beat Offaly win get them there.

Carlow: Carlow beat Offaly and Antrim best Kerry.

All of these scenario's are quite realistic and it's difficult to know how things will shape up on Saturday. Antrim have already qualified, so you'd think that would play into Kerry's hands But Antrim won't want to lose a home game to a team they could meet in the final two weeks after.

Offaly will be the favourites going up against Carlow in Tullamore, but Carlow's form has really picked up and they know the odds are against them getting to the final, so will be less burdened by pressure going into it.

Offaly have go to moves where they puck out to the corner back and work scores from there. Kerry gave Offaly too much space on their puck out. After Kerry equalised, Offaly pucked out to the corner back and worked the winning score from there.

Saturday's fixtures.
Antrim v Kerry. Antrim
Offaly v Carlow Offaly
Down v Meath Down

Important matches, Antrim have qualified for the JMCD Final. Offaly v Carlow winners reach the final. If Kerry win, and Offaly lose to Carlow, I think Kerry qualify.

I wouldn't rule out Kerry and Carlow wins. Antrim might rest players and Kerry have to win. And some of Carlows better players look to be well over the injuries they were still recovering from at the beginning of the season.

I hope Offaly get through. I think they have the momentum to build with guys coming through at minor level. Plus they seem to have put a lot of investment in.

Offaly are in pole position. It is difficult to see them being denied.

Good feeling in Offaly this week, should be a crowd at the Carlow game. It will be a tough game, Offaly should win, but nothing is certain. Carlow people will be welcome in Tullamore regardless of the result.

It'll be great for the tournament if there's a big crowd. The standard of hurling has been fantastic. It hasn't quite transferred into crowds at the games. Hence there is little TV coverage. It's a circle of fire.
