Dream Team Managements

(Oldest Posts First)

Bit of a shameless plug, but there's a massive buzz around Kildare at the moment that's been around since the announcement of our management team. Glenn Ryan, John Doyle, Anthony Rainbow and Dermot Earley.. you'd struggle to find more passionate GAA men anywhere.

Question is, what would the equivalent "dream team" managements be across the country? If you could pick four legends from your own, who and why?

Be interesting to see if they can actually deliver any silverware.

James Nallen, Andy Moran, Chris Barrett, Cora Staunton.

If we had a squad of players that reflected some of the talents of these 4 it might be a good mix. Very good players don't always make good coaches. Rochford is a great coach for me, didn't play county senior. Not sure if Chris Barrett has coached but is always impressive when I hear him talking about football. Loved his aggressive style but used his head too. Nallen my favourite Mayo player since mid-70s was a selector was previously a selector under James Horan. Could get forward for a score and cover the 6 channel. Not always the star but rarely had a poor game, never let the head drop. Andy reinvented himself as a forward. Could he reinvent a few of our attacking backs as front 6 men? Sure not many will agree but is Cora the greatest player to wear the green and red? All she has achieved in the game, has the respect of male and female players alike accross the land. Thriving now in the AFLW at 40 she'd have a few ideas that players would listen to.

Will be a huge step in the right direction if Kildare keep their Div 1 status and this year is probably the best chance for years to win the Leinster title. Seven if not more of the 2018 U20 All Ireland winning team is now featuring for Kildare seniors, James Horan did similar when he first became Mayo manager in 2010 by having the core of the 2006 All Ireland U21 winning team as part of his plans.

With the Earley connection i'd always have a soft spot for Kildare best of luck for the year ahead.

Based on potential ability as a manager/coach, out of legendary players I would choose

Declan O'Sullivan, Tomás O'Sé, Kieran Donaghy and Seamus Moynihan.

Would you prefer someone else?

They've only been there a couple of months. Bit of positivity wouldn't go amiss.

I know he is. What do you mean? The management as a whole were bad on the day or did he make some call that went wrong?

Down in div 2 now is hardly too positive.

Hi Kerry . Offaly were poor on the day. I heard a post match comment that Tomas, and management did. not make the right decisions on the day. I could not be there in person that day.
Big display v Cork, but sadly we lost narrowly after a great performance.

Nah! It'd surely have to be Peter Keane, Mickey Ned, and Ogie Moran!
