The Gerry Reilly is absolute no gauge no go bye. Load of hopeless sides in the Gerry Reilly the last few years. Last years Minor team won it and look what happened them. Meath have a very good side but DUBLIN have a better one

I can't comment on this year's Minor crop, but agree that there's little point using the Gerry Reilly as a gauge. Aside from our win in 2018, Dublin and Kildare have dominated the Leinster MFC in the last decade but I rarely hear of them winning the Gerry Reilly Cup. Agree totally, the Gerry Reilly is no measure. It's a great competition and great for 14/15 year olds to play county football competetively, but they're gossins. They could be different people entirely by the time theyre adults; attaching prowess to lads that age is a big stretch. I also weigh-in with the personal view that the new minor (U17) is also not a good measure of success in the future. These are clean slate, untrained, and undeveloped schoolboys. The talent will always be there in a big county in Meath but these boys are miles and miles off being considered stars, in my own opinion, until they can compete and dominate the senior ranks at 20/21/22 when theyre still very young but playing against physically developed, weathered senior players. Meath have a very strong Dunshaughlin and Colmcilles but Dublin have 8 Very strong Division 1 teams. That is the gauge. This Dublin year group is strong where as they are not next year. Meath are good but I think Dublin have a whole plethora of top players to pick from. But ye never know. Dublin could be missing some key players with injury , Covid etc but then Meath are down McDonnell and Stafford too now as he is injured as well. So 2 of their forwards are gone. Would imagine Dublin are favourites, but would have to fancy our lads chances. Have heard good reports the last few weeks of wins against Monaghan and a highly rated Down side.

Have absolutely no idea on the two teams haha, we can only hope for the best. And the broken up training makes it even more of a toss up. Really really hope it'll be streamed and we can watch it

If the rumours around the county were true which I'm sure they were, there was no broken up training with the group training throughout lockdown bar a few weeks at the start.

Monaghan are awful. Especially up front and we madevery hard work beating them and in fact trailed for a lot of the game. Don't be listening to so called form. It's all on the day with Minor lads
