Good to give lads the opportunity to wear the capital blue and a chance to impress"
Lads are in Bali as we speak, St Stephen in sporting a sling on his right arm. Looks like Even will see the League.

Dessie is taking charge of his first game on the 11th in the OBC, an awful lot of the lads still on holiday, Deano is in Oz i believe and the Boden lads are out this week end in the club semi in Breffni, with all that i think we will have a make shift side next week and the first league in Croker on the 25th.

Yep, saw a pic taken yesterday of the guys on the beach in Bali.
Fully deserved holiday.
Great to see Cluxton with them.

Deano is away and the Boden lads as you say will not be available.

Great opportunity for others to try to take the next step.

Will be interesting to see the squad, I think Dessie will cast the net wide, we have some untapped talent in Dublin that didn't get the nod under Jim for whatever reason and talent breaking through, should be interesting.

It's Longford in Pearse Park on the 11th.

Cluxton confirmed for this year. As is MDMA & Connolly.

Will be interesting to see how Dublin and Kerry fare out in the opening games of the league considering they're just back from Holiday. Is it just the two teams in the All Ireland final that go on a foreign holiday and is it payed by their respective county boards or by the GAA HQ???

Well we pay for our own holiday down here in kerry anyway as we pay for everything out of our own pockets, our county board put a €10 levy on allireland final tickets that goes towards the holiday.

If you ever win an AI again I'm sure that the KCB will pay for you to go to Center Parcs. It's not like they can't afford it with all of the dollars coming in from Kerry Group, the myriad of sponsors, the US and of course Minister Brendan Griffin.

The all ireland winners in both codes get a grant of around €80,000 each towards a team holiday.

Pretty experimental team named for Dessie's first game:

Michael Sheil (Raheny)
CJ Sheil (L.S)
Eoin O Brien (Castleknock)
Darren Byrne (Raheny)
Niall McGovern (N.F.)
Graham Hannigan (Castlknock)
Cian Murphy (T.D.)
E.O.C (L.S.)
Andy Foley (Clontarf)
Niall Walsh (Plunkets)
Dan O' Brien (Crokes)
Glenn O' Reilly (N.F.)
Killian O Gara (TSS)
Niall O Callaghan (Cuala)
Chris Sallier (T.D.)

Subs: Craig Reilly, Ross McGowen, Sean Cleary, Eoin O Dea, Tom Lahiff, Ryan Deegan, Nathan Doran, Diarmuid McLoughlan, Gerry Seaver, David Quinn, Scott Fulham.

Some big names there from the Dublin club scene, good few underage alumni with a far few medals 2ho would have played under Dessie and a few with big family linage in Dublin football.

That will do as a start! ;)

Will Con's brother be in and around it this year?

Niall is young, that bit younger then Con, but has been shooting the lights out for Culala seniors and underage, he has come on leaps and bounds in about 18 months. Was Culala player of the year, which is a great accolade given how many All Ireland's County and club medals that are in that dressing room and his young age.

Not as prodigiously tipped as Con and not really involved in Dublin underage as he was a late bloomer and very very slight and small - even slighter then Con when he was younger, so a big step up for him. Bit like the Alan and Bernard story. Hes a very skillful & effective forward, has that O Callaghan dead eye.

Best of luck and a lovely achievement for the family im sure.

This would be the Dublin C or D team. I could give you a list of about 30 players not in Bali, who would have been involved in this, who will be playing Sigerson instead, not that some of these lads wont be involved in the shake up.

Everyone seems to be talking about the team Dublin had out on Sunday but yet people don't seem to be mentioning the fact Longford were missing over half their starting team from last year.

With the second lowest population I think in Ireland, Longford can ill afford to be losing that many players yearly but yet every year they put in a decent shift.

So why don't we talk less about the team the Dubs had out last week and just say well done to our near neighbours.

Spot on. Great result for Longford. Some of those Dubs are no slouches either and are tagged as future stars so would not undervalue the result........even if the ref gifted them 4 late frees to win the game <- joke!

Why are Dublin permitted into the competition at the semifinal stage? Everyone else had to play 3 games to qualify. Same last year, apparently?

By rule Dublin were not allowed to start collective training until the end of December competition had already started in mid December. It was either that or they pull out altogether.
