Yerra I'm confident it will never happen, the 2010s have been a poor decade by Kerry's standards but we were coping with the disintegration of one of the greatest sides we ever produced. I think this summer showed we have another great side in the making and though the hurt of Saturday's loss is still raw, I'm actually confident Kerry will bring back Same in 2020!

Kerry will do whatever they can to delay it but it feels inevitable at the moment. RoyalBadger (Meath) - Posts: 571 - 16/09/2019 11:19:42 2235999 Link 0 |
Dublin will always be there or thereabouts in the title frame for the next 10 years at least, but I do think their dominance is coming to an end, which will slow their catchup somewhat. Cluxton, O'Sullivan, McCauley, McMahon, Andrews, McMennamon, Brogan and Connolly will either finish up now or in the next year or so. Although Dublin still have a strong panel, players of that caliber are not there automatically for all that people talk about Dublins bench. When games are going against them and they're not able to bring in the same caliber, the difference will be there for all to see. The loss of Cluxton alone will be huge. keithlemon (Australia) - Posts: 920 - 16/09/2019 11:35:42 2236010 Link 0 |
I think it may happen, but it won't be a while DuhallowRed (Cork) - Posts: 269 - 16/09/2019 11:46:31 2236015 Link 0 |
Not going to happen anytime soon. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13718 - 16/09/2019 12:25:51 2236045 Link 7 |
2 Kerrymen standing on a perch. One says to the other "Do you smell fish?". Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 16/09/2019 12:47:43 2236057 Link 0 |
Of the players you named there, only 1 started in the replay. It seems they have already replaced them. So long as the funds are kept pumping in, the machine will keep producing new players. I think by the early 2030s they will have caught up with Kerry.

Well they've just won 7 of the last 9 and with their team getting younger plus population the over funding and home advantage GAA president and general manager all from Dublin I'd say they be out in front by 2030. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 16/09/2019 14:20:11 2236105 Link 0 |

Everybody with an interest in the overall health of the game. Not you obviously. Not John Horan. Not many Dubs. Dublin are becoming a bigger and bigger fish in a fast diminishing pond. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5018 - 16/09/2019 14:59:28 2236136 Link 3 |
Let me get this straight....you are worried that Dublin will catch up with Kerry...the most successful County. It would just be one county overtaking another in the roll of honours? What's the problem?

Dublin will catch and overtake Kerry in my opinion, and the opinion of a few others above - possibly sometime in the 2030s. In order to do that, it will mean Dublin winning probably 12 of the next 15 or 16 titles. Given they've won 7 of the last 9 with only 1 player starting both the 2011 final and Saturday's game, all the signs point to a similar trend of dominance continuing. This is no 'once in a lifetime team'. Look, if you're from Dublin and still take enjoyment from what is becoming a procession, then good luck to you. But if the president of the GAA feels the same way, and he certainly seems to be burying his head in the sand with regards the undeniable advantages Dublin have, then I would say that's a big problem! Wouldn't you?? cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5018 - 16/09/2019 15:24:22 2236151 Link 3 |
Who cares because it's just a number? Did nobody in Dublin care about the 5 in a row? My guess is 2028 Dublin will surpass kerry. By 2042 I think Dublin will have over 50 all ireland's. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 16/09/2019 15:30:13 2236155 Link 9 |
Couldn't be less ***** about that record to be honest, our way isn't Kerry's way, you can't compare all Ireland's won 10 years ago to ones now in my opinion, the competition is vastly different. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 16/09/2019 15:50:41 2236170 Link 3 |
Depends on how much money is pumped into them. At the present rate 2040 I'd say. BliainanÁir (Laois) - Posts: 598 - 16/09/2019 15:56:53 2236174 Link 1 |
You hit the nail on the head there. 'The competition is vastly different' you say. Exactly, one county is finacially doped now.

You're the one mentioning numbers. I dont care if we do or dont overtake them. That's my point.

Obviously there are pitfalls to comparing teams in different eras but nonetheless it would be a significant milestone for Dublin in the same way additional importance was attached to 5 in a row.
