All Ireland Final Ticket Prices

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Replying To Miami305:  "Its a shame to see the prices have been raised again and are now at 90Euro with Hill Tickets (up from last
year?) at 45.

There really needs to be a category system employed if they want to charge these kinds of figures. There is a huge difference between being sat in the lower hogan out near either end line as opposed to one of the central blocks like 331/332. I think in the central 4 blocks of the lower hogan and cusack, 90 could be considered a fair price. However the other blocks either side at 75 say.

With no concessions for students, families, OAP's etc it will be a tough ask for some people to fork out so much and then have travel, food, hotels to factor in also. I was down in West Clare in the week and saw a framed ticket from the 95 final and it was £22 for the hogan. Now £22 was a decent amount back in 95 but still equates to roughly 40 pound by today's value.

Also no great surprise to see tickets go on general sale as with the 2014 replay and in 2016. The common denominator in all of this is the Tipp-Cats pairing."
I have been following this debate, and I am afraid to say, I have to nail a few home truths here...leaving Offalys demise asside, I havent attened any All Irelands in many years due to the cost alone, once tickets went over €50/60 I didnt even bother looking for any..whats happening here reminds me very much of rugby, we have "ordinary" fans who go to all the games and probably sacrifice other things (rightly or wrongly - thats their call)..then you have the "who's who" of society attending, very easy to spot, they will have a really expensive blazer/sports jacket and the designer glasses either wearing or pushed up on the forehead, the latters wont be on here complaining of prices, but the original fan described above will...I have a young family like alot of people, and like alot of people I will settle down Sunday evening and watch it on the television, it is not the same as being there, but I certainly cannot afford €3/400 on tickets alone, thats before transport, food/drink etc...the GAA is, and this is my view from attending local matches, turning into a slighly eletist organisation, you will have your "ordinary" fan, and nothing wron with him, great fellah or girl or child, then you have the "plush" supporters who seem to turn up for every match and have the means to attend all big intercounty games...yes, ok, more luck to them if they can, but its these people who can well afford all this, and the ordinary supporter is slowly getting driven out in favour of the "plush" supporter...I might not be popular with the plush brigade for saying this, so be it...no point pretending it doesnt exist either...pay your €90 if you want, but no point giving out about it, if it means that much, vote with your feet and watch it at home, I certainly would spend a weeks wages on any match, and most cannot...

€90 probably not so bad if you're going on your own.

It's when the rest of the family want to come along that it starts to bite.

My crystal ball doesn't see beyond today. Some here are smoking or taking some seriously dodgy stuff.

Replying To ballydalane:  "€90 for every seat is ridiculous. I know Wembley have different prices depending on quality of the seat, so asking GAA fans to pay the same for row Z of the corner of the upper canal as you would for a few rows behind the President is a bit much. Too much admin and hard work for the GAA though."
Well said. I've been on about this for ages too. Most, maybe every other major stadium in the world has different prices for different seats, How can they justify charging the same price for best and worst seats? Is there an explanation? €90 is fine for the best seat but not for the ones off up in the corner.

How much was Ed Sheeran or Westlife last summer in Croke Park? I bet it was the same whether you were 2 months old or 80 years old.
This is only an issue because 4 sets of supporters who have seen it all before are there again. There wasn't a word when Limerick and Galway were there last year, nor would there have been a word if Wexford or Limerick were in it this year, getting your hands on them would have been problem #1.

There wasn't a word because last year they were 80 and there was no increase. Have you heard a detailed plan from the GAA how the extra revenue created from the price increase will be distributed? For the 61,000 or so seats that means £610k for each final and a cool £1.2mil for 2 days work.

Whatever about All Ireland day programmes which are usually good, the biggest con in the GAA is programmes throughout the rest of the year. People paying a fiver to read two teams that's will bear no semblance to what's on the pitch, numbers etc all wrong. It's an actual con job & that they allow this is nothing short of disgraceful. The GAA should be brought to task on this, fleecing patrons with inaccurate information.

Wasn't a word about this in advance of the final.....poor programme sellers got a few choice words from lads around me who had their fiver out and ready to then be told the programme was 7 euro......though it was ott to be honest

Staggered pricing is the only argument that makes any sense here. If I was in charge I would have 5 categories & prices similar to below.

Cat A (Lower Hogan/Cusack) - €125
Cat B (Upper Hogan/Cusack) - €80
Cat C (Lower Canal End) - €70
Cat D (Upper Canal End & Hill) - €60
Students Cat (Nally) - €10

Premium is all corporate anyway so doesn't really enter the argument.

Have every programme, League and Championship on the run to going for five in a row, 7 euro isnt going to stop me now. ;)

To be fair it's team managers who are to blame for this, given the amount of messing that goes on around the official annoucement of the teams.

In how many of those finals did both teams line out as selected (per Programme)?

It's not GAA fault. It's the coaches who cant simply be brave enough to name a team and not try meaningless mind games
Only solution would be give all players squad numbers at start of year and squads are listed in the programme and you can then mark starting team if you want
