Kilkenny and Tipp Give Us A Traditional All Ireland Hurling Final

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This is so one sided, pathetic long ball ain't working. This "traditional" hurdler at its neanderthal worst.

His shoulder makes contact not his elbow, terrible decision. Frustrating for Kilkenny as Barrett's Ronaldo dive to the ground was an embarrassment, added to the fact that Barrett burst Hogan's nose & no card. Terrible disappointing final ruined by a very harsh sending off.

Worst final in years.

Delighted for tip, what KK and wexford did to Galway this year karma caught up with both of them. Most consistently team Tipperary deserved winners of 2019 all Ireland

Tipp will hardly care, they'll go down as All Ireland Champions. However the rest of the country will know the 2019 final was decided by the referee. Terrible call and finished the final there and then. Limerick must be kicking themselves tonight seeing those two teams in the final. They left this years All Ireland behind them.

Fair play to Tipp, poor final all round unfortunately for the neutral.

Good to see the "game" of hurling win over the ""game" of "physicality" or "on the edge", or "the end justifies the means" or however some of us will justify a certain mindset and approach to hurling. To borrow from a pundit on today's game, ( paraphrased) I'm not saying anything, I'm just making a comment".

Well done to Tipp, they were far more up for it and fully deserved their win, also hard luck to Kilkenny but it just wasn't your day today.

The sending off was the correct decision even if Michael Duignan somehow thought it was the rain's fault....absolutely bizarre nonsense. Also the ref bottled a peno for Tipp early on, so both side's could have their grievances.

Congrats Tipp; ye can only play what's put on front of ye and ye did it in style.

Poor final. Having already been beaten twice this year, KK had no business being on that field today, and despite being the beaten finalists I don't think anyone could make a serious argument that they're the second best team in the country. Arguably, they're not even the second team in Leinster. Very poor final from a neutral perspective, but I don't think the Tipp fans will care!

Well done to Tipp. Irrespective of the sending off, better team. Although I think Kilkenny will win the next few years.

Listening to the conversation on the radio after the game, it seems that some punters feel a red card should only be given if someone gets hurt. Crazy stuff. If people in this day and age haven't learned the dangers of repeated head injuries, however how slight they look, those people have no business commentating on sports at this level. The days of "walk it off, you'll be grand" are long gone.

Shame that the sending off has become the only talking point. Tipp were on the rise at that stage, and while the scoreline might have been tighter, there's no question which team was out there playing modern, top-class hurling, and which team had only one plan and couldn't implement it.

Great win by Tipp. They could have actually played better, but were by far the better team in any case.

Eventhough Kilkenny deserved to beat Cork and Limerick on the days, they probably over-achieved in reaching the final, which is why it was the poorest final in a while.

Next year's All Ireland championship will be lively with Limerick, Galway & Cork trying to get back, and Wexford being genuine All Ireland contenders now.

Please stop talking about the ref. He made the least number of errors on the field. However Duignan needs to be taken off our air ways. He believes the rules should only be applied on dry days. Shameful analysis to make of a referees decision.

Exactly, Hogan barely caught his visor. The reason he got a red was because of the simulation from Barrett. It;s hard to blame the ref, he doesn't get to see any replays. If he had, it would have been a yellow at the most for Hogan, and a yellow for Barrett for simulation But as in professional soccer, refs tend to judge a foul more by the reactions then the actual foul. That's why players dive and exaggerate; it works. It's a shame to see it creeping in to the GAA.
