You should re read my post. The post is not about commenting on who will win. It is the misguided fact that you have basically given Mayo no chance with little basis. And yes if I was to call it Donegal should win but only just.

Game should be moved to Croke Park. Mayo complained not everybody could get into Limerick for a semi final or Newbridge last year, now it time for them to practice what they preach. It is only fair.

I seem to recall JH saying a few weeks ago that Durcan and DOC would be an outside shot for the last round of the Super 8s, seems like Ruane's season is over unfortunately.

Donegal will deservedly be favourites going into this game, given their current run of form. I hope that the long overdue week break will have some restorative properties for several Mayo players.

How are Donegal faring injury-wise?

This do or die fixture was always likely given the way the fixtures were scheduled. It will be proper hell for leather Championship stuff. It's so tight to call. Mayo have home advantage and need to win and that might actually be beneficial to them. A draw will do us, and despite best efforts from the management that mindset might just creep in to our lads. I'm sure Declan will be doing his utmost to ensure the Donegal players just go flat out for the win.

The injury lists for both teams are a source of concern. We know that Eoghan Ban and Ruane are definitely out. It remains to be seen how the likes of Hugh McFadden, Jason McGee, Neil McGee, Paddy McGrath, Durcan, DOC etc will recover in the next 2 weeks. Whichever team can get most of their injured mean back could be a decisive factor.

There's always bit a bit of needle between these teams going back to 2012. While we drifted away from the top table for a few years it now seems we are back in contention again, whereas there are doubts about Mayo. Do they still have the legs and the fight to prove people wrong once more? Can Donegal push on to really be a credible threat to Dublin? Time will tell!

Bán Gallagher is definitely out obviously but it's hard to know about any of the others. I would worry about Jason McGee as he looked quite upset coming off the pitch yesterday and I'd worry it's a muscle injury, but hopefully he will be back.

Declan Bonner implied he would hope the likes of Neil McGee and Paddy McGrath will be fit so I would be more optimistic for them. He mentioned lads being banged up and ice packs in the dressing room so hopefully the likes of Hugh McFadden will be ok also.

Mayo in a knock-out game in their own back yard is a very very dangerous opponent and while I'm confident in our lads, especially after the way they fought yesterday, I've no doubt Mayo will tear into us. It will be a cracking atmosphere, looking forward to it.

Eoghan Ban obviously out for the rest of the season. We lost Neil McGee to injury during the week too. Paddy McGrath was carrying an injury before the Meath game and had a set back. Kieran Gillespie still not ready to return from his knee injury. That's 4 probable starting defenders right there. Hugh McFadden and Odhran McFadden Ferry both carried knocks into the Kerry game and both had to leave the field yesterday. Lost Jason McGee to a hamstring injury in the first half yesterday. Paddy McBrearty looked to be nursing his hamstring at the end of yesterday's game too. Injuries are my biggest concern heading into the Mayo game.

Do you ever pick a team to win or do you always sit on the fence?

Everytime Donegal play a match you can never just pick them to win. If they were playing Wicklow you would still say "Wicklow in with a good shout if they start well.".

Also every team has injuries this time of year. Its the nature of the game. Get over it.

I feel the same. Mayo can always pull something out of the bag but Donegal hold all the aces. Forwards are way ahead of Mayo. Mayo's kickouts are a disaster, Donegal's are excellent.

Donegal to win by 4-6.

This game has the makings of a classic for the ages , And I'll miss it coz il be in Navan :-(
are sky or RTÉ showing both these games coz I'll have to record it?

Having watched both teams over the last 2 weeks and considering injuries to Mayos and Donegal players and the potential of getting players back in two weeks I'd probably tip the hat to Donegal.

Donegal are a massive team physically plus there is the Steven Rochford factor, he'l know every thing about these Mayo boys,

It's going to be a very open game of football so roll on Saturday week.

I fancy Donegal in this. They are going too well and will not tire and get out-thought like Meath did. Would love to face Donegal in a semi-final rematch. We will do better than in Breffni.

What are you on about? I do pick teams to win. Though I thought this was a discussion thread and not a betting site, so I'm free to discuss the ins and outs if I wish. One thing I do know is if we play you guys again we will beat you again.

Mayo have a dodgy enough home record but it has to come good eventually but they will be facing a strong Donegal side with lofty ambitions

Again if Mayo had a full panel they'd be challenging for Sam

Kerry exposed their deficiencies, Meath did too but they have plenty of their own

I'd expect to see Donegal do the same but Mayo will fight tooth and nail

There won't be much in this but I think Donegal will edge it

Mayo are still alive and will improve Rayo, not sure what you are on about. Regardless, it will be a great match up.

I would be expecting Mayo to win this as Donegal will not be able to repeat that type of performance. Kerry will pip Meath by a couple of Points. Mayo vs Dublin semi is on the cards.

Mayo were very average yesterday.
Mayo dont have a great record in Castlebar either.
Donegal to win comfortably.

I would say Donegal, Mayo and Kerry's group, not "our group" if you are alluding that your group is more competitive as I believe you are. It is more competitive because the three teams mentioned are all able to beat you comfortably therefore making the game between Mayo and Donegal interesting. I think all believe Kerry are through as they are playing yourselves, so all eyes on Castlebar.
Our group is all over, which is a shame but you are most certainly not in a better place than Roscommon or even Cork to some extent.

Donegal rightly favourites and Mayo look tired. They could have a kick though after the two week break and being at home. I think it's down to how the game starts. If Donegal get away from Mayo early, I don't see them clawing it back, if Mayo get a good start, I could see them taking this all the way and nicking it. I wouldn't bet too much on this game but will go for a Mayo win and a surprise.

If Durcan is back Mayo have a chance, If DOC is back Mayo have a great chance. They need to up it again from yesterday but the 2 weeks off will be perfect. Could be a classic game. Strangely I would fancy Donegal to possibly catch the Dubs, but think Mayo could catch the Donnies. Just got a ticket there now, selling out fast on the website.
