Dublin V Roscommon

Replying To festinog:  ""There's no reason why Roscommon can't challenge Dublin... Dublin will... end up winning by 12+"

If that is what is considered a challenge at the business end of the championship, then God help us all."
You took my line out of context in fairness, Connacht has been poor enough this year. Mayo, Galway having poor championships and credit to Roscommon they capitalized and beat what was in front of them. So absolutely there's no reason why they can't be competitive

Tyrone made Roscommon look ordinary at home. I'd expect Dublin to be better again and Roscommon have the panel to be competitive for a portion of the game but Dublin being Dublin will be relentless and further expose Roscommon off the back of the Tyrone game.

Dublin beat Galway well not so long ago in a similar enough fixture so I'd expect the same again against Roscommon.

Am expecting Roscommon to be tough as teak and we will take lumps, they will relish a crack of us. Bite you hand off for 2 points, no suspensions and no injuries right now.

Looking forward to seeing Roscommon again this year, cracking game down the Hyde in the league and more then held there own for the majority of the game.

Connacht this summer has been a similar level to what it has been for the last 3 or 3 few years, e.g ts includes 3 top 8 teams along with Leitrim and Sligo Div3,4 teams. If Mayo had won Connacht nobody would be saying they have been poor this year after all they would have added a provincial title to NFL title already won. If Galway had won the talk would be about them winning back to back Connacht for the first time since 2003. Long story short there is no doubt Roscommon don't get the credit for winning Connacht as the other "big two" do.

Last weekend Roscommon were competitive against arguably the 2nd best team in the country a big jump in a year when Tyrone made the rossies look out of their depth at this level. Speaking of levels Dublin are the highest of all and Tyrone even had to ship heavy defeats to them. Competitive for a portion of the game is a possibility and the Galway game i presume you are talking about was last years semi final when they lost by 9 points. Once a result becomes a 12 to 15+ point defeat it can't really be called competitive, Cork could have made the final scoreline last weekend a bit more respectable but their defending and fitness seemed to be well below the required level.

A logical prediction for this game, Roscommon lost by 4 points to Tyrone both had chances to narrow that gap or increase it but 4 points was a fair reflection in my view. Dublin are at least 4 to 6 points the better team than Tyrone especially if played in Croke park in the championship so this week you are looking at a 8 to 10 point win for Dublin and a higher margin than that will mean that Roscommon still have major issues with their conditioning as last weeks competitive display in Hyde Park on a very warm day will have taken too much out of them.

Replying To neverright:  "It's intriguing to know what really itches you about Cox."
Its nothing personal with Cox, pundits do it with several players around the country, Aidan O Shea for example. Bigging players up to be more than they are for some reason as if us great unwashed watching are unable to see them ourselves and form our own opinion.

On the other hand I sense that this may be a dig that I could possibly have some problem with him being from Kerry and this is the furthest thing from the truth, Leitrim was one of the first counties to benefit from the parentage rule with Darcy back in 94, don't care where a lad is from so long as he shows commitment to the team he is with which Cox certainly has done.

Match-day and this thread is on the 2nd page....seriously no hype for this game...

Anyway that Dubs bench looks scary today. 13 all stars between them, couldn't even tell you many All Ireland medals...

Looking at that bench today could the ''Dublin only pull away in the final quarter of a game because of superior fitness and conditioning'' merchants please just accept that maybe, just maybe its to do with the sheer quality of player that we can spring off the bench in the final quarter ;)

For a team that beat Galway and Mayo to be -14 in the handicap is a sad state of affairs. Id imagine against any other team in the neutral phase game they would not be more then a 6 points handicap as they have shown they are a good team. Lets hope the rossies can stick in it til the last 20 minutes and make a game of it until then.

Great to see Bernard on the bench

Honestly think we're far better late on with him available

Worth the admission alone to see him get a run

Still think he's an awful lot to offer and I feel better as a supporter knowing he's there to be called on.

If Costello starts I wish him the very best because he's keeping some asset out of the team, so he needs to be performing to a very high standard.

Nobody makes the runs that Bernard makes. We're a weaker team without that intelligent space maker in the corner. Our game has changed as a result. The long direct ball into the corner isn't used by us as much these days, instead we play through Ciaran more often than not. Berno can just gain 2 or 3 yards in the corner where he has all the weapons necessary to do the damage, pace, jinking, point off left or right foot. Would love to see him get some time and roll back the years. Legend.

Couldn't agree more Joxer.

how many times will Michael Daragh McCauley touch the ball with his feet Today.
I will say a maximum of once in the whole game.

Can the person doing the the live coverage on the Hoganstand Live match tracker, stop implying that Dublin have won the match already even though its still innthe first quarter. Its very disingenerous to Roscommon! Bias

He will carry the ball for 200 steps with 4 to 6 bounces in total.

Rossies are an embarrassment and shouldn't be near the Super 8s. No heart and no fight. Credit to Cox who is giving Philly the run around

Ros look a shadow of the team against us and Mayo. While winning was always unlikely an awful lot of school boy errors. That match in Pairc Ui Rinn in two weeks time will be lucky to draw 3k.

Reading Roscommon and Galway fans all year on this forum throwing mud at counties like Kildare and Meath for "not getting their act together" and how they'd welcome Dublin into Connaught championship.

Again ye'd get hammered every single year and would lose players and fan interest just as quickly as likes of Meath and Kildare have.

Ye are full of it basically.
