mayo lack one too without Moran, newcomers need another year Donegal will eat them alive if he doesnt start so its Dublin , Kerry, Donegal , Tyrone Rochford tipping the sale between 3 and 4 , because neither had a kicking game last season to trouble Dublin .. Donegal do now so Tyrone drop to 4 despite getting to final which was a non event last year , BeJasus (UK) - Posts: 383 - 25/07/2019 20:21:10 2216494 Link 0 |
Being tough is one thing, acting like tramps is another and won't win you anything, either friends or trophies, we were disregarded up here too for years, we were too 'nice' a lot of it was our own doing too, a big drinking culture and a lot of fellas who hadn't the manners to respect the jersey they wore or the decent people that followed the team all over only to be let down at times by the 'party' boys, Mc Guinness sorted that crap out hopefully once and for all, there's a different culture here now and we are blessed with the quality of players we have, great ambassadors for the county, Jim might have been extreme at the start but he put discipline and manners into the old guard and now we are seeing the fruits of that, we may be a year or 2 away from bringing Sam to the hills again but I will hopefully see it again in my lifetime. I know what you are saying. But my point is that he doesn't know what he is saying. You articulate your points very well and I would actually agree with most them. I would say that Tyrone had shown that they are capable of playing a kicking game but our management seem to have abounded it out if fear. royaldunne on the other hand seems to think that being behind Dublin, Donegal and Kerry in the last 4 of the All Ireland is being unsuccessful yet argues that Meath are successful which makes no sense at all. It's a funny point RD is making, but I would argue he is saying that Meath have 7 All-Irelands, including one in the 40s, one in the 50s, one in the 60s, two in the 80s and two in the 90s. Where were Tyrone in that 50 year spread? That is his point. Another point I would make is that in the early 00s there was a very clear changing of the guard where Meath gradually slipped further away from the top tier and their unique place in the pecking order as being skilled sh*t-housers was largely filled in by the emerging Tyrone team of the era. Tyrone since won 2 titles and they represent what Meath used to represent! Meath have since languished and have tried to reinvent the wheel numerous times, finally only being partially successful this year. Meath/Tyrone are more alike than people like to think and therein is why there seems to be intense dislike between both counties.
