Are my eyes deceiving me, a Dublin man here (with his team going for 5 in a row) and he is jealous of Kerry's haul of Munster titles? slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6603 - 03/07/2019 07:57:18 2204730 Link 2 |
Who's next on the list after Kerry without the benefit of state aid?!

Munster finalists earn a bye to the semi-finals on the field of play. It's like a wrap around format. Performance in one year is rewarded in the next. Just like in Leinster. Kerry did not have any home comforts in this year's Munster Championship. We travelled away to Ennis and away to Cork. Just like a lot of other teams. When Dublin play in a Leinster final in Croke Park, their next Leinster game should be an away game. Generally, it is. The first round is played outside Dublin. If you're talking about the next Leinster final, where would you play it? The next highest ground capacity in Leinster is 24,000 (Nowlan Park). Even with the modest enough numbers at this years Leinster final, you'd be denying tens of thousands of fans the opportunity to attend. It's up to 10 Leinster counties and their players to try to bring some fairness like that about. The Leinster teams seem to continually vote for such games to be played in Croke Park. They have the power to change the system via democratic means. This sounds pretty fair to me. However, you seem to disagree. Kurt_Angle (Dublin) - Posts: 567 - 03/07/2019 11:51:58 2204831 Link 1 |
Munster finalists could be drawn on the same side of the draw. Leinster seeded quarter-finalists are kept apart. Dublin had semi-final and final in Croke Park. Kerry did not have the luxury of any provincial home games this year. Yes, Dublin's first round is outside of Dublin, I am saying they should play in their opponents home ground or choice of suitable venue. The Leinster final should continue in Croke Park. The trade off being when Dublin play in a home final, their next Leinster game is in their opponents home ground or choice of suitable venue. Yes, Leinster continually vote for Croke Park, just like the Munster Council wanted Kerry and Cork seeded in opposite semi-finals. The Munster players had to revolt for change. Leinster players will have to do likewise for fairness. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9216 - 03/07/2019 12:05:54 2204836 Link 1 |
