Meath are developing well bot a work in progress,

Will be interesting to see how they get on.

Q. Are fans really going to pay €30 to see a development match?

Replying To Furlong1949:  "At the start of this decade we hammered this great Dublin team. Wouldnt it be just right that at end the decade we end it with another bang v Dublin. We have been biggest stone in Dublin football shoe for generations. Dublins worst nightmare if Meath become a successful strong county again because the one thing Dublin could never handle is strong Meath team.

Nearly 10 years ago at the start of this decade in June the hay was saved in Meath and the Dubs were beaten. On that Dublin team that played that day who were hammered by Meath were Stephen Cluxton , Phily McMahon, Michael Fitzsimmons, Michael Dara Macauley, Bernard Brogan, Alan Brogan, Diarmaid Connolly, Kevin McMemanin, Paul Flynn, Bryan Cullen, Eoghan O Gara , Ger Brennan , Rory O Carroll . Basically the great Dublin of this decade. Only 4 teams have beaten Dublin in this decade in championship they are Donegal Mayo Cork and Meath. Its in our dna it what defines us as a county. Beating Dublin. It whats we exist where put on this earth to do to beat them not just beat but to send them to the football wilderness for years. Its not a question of if we will beat Dublin, its a question of when. Is it in 2022 , or 2021 or 2020 or in two weeks time.

Rain bad awful day could help us. In 86 and 96 when we defeated Dublin they were bad conditions. While we are small pacey team so dry conditions suit us. But I will hoping fo rain lots of it. For bad wet conditions lead to a dogfight and Meath alwayd beat Dublin in a dogfight. Are we sud try what we did v Donegal in first half in Croker. Go for the juggler in first 20 mins. Goals early lead unsettle them . While McEntee doesnt want to be first Meath manager ever to not put it up to Dublin. Meaths last 5 managers who played Dublin in their first game really put it up to Dublin. McEntee will want to carry on that tradition. If we deliver performance we did v Tyrone Donegal first half v Armagh and second half v kildare. It will be very competitive game a tight affair and maybe even a Meath win. Especially 65 mins in Ballybofey v Donegal. That was 65 mins of quality top class intelligent Meath football.

If I think with my head I know a team that has won 1 game ever in Croker playing a team that has won 4 All-Irelands in Croker there is a gap. But I dont think with my head when it comes to Dublin. I think with passion and heart and never say die spirit. It doesn't matter how many titles Dublin has as a Meathman when the ball is thrown I will be expecting Meath to throw the kitchen sink and Dublin and for Meath to beat Dublin. Dublin have always had the resources money and population. We have always put it up to them.

No team has beaten Dublin more in the country .Meath have beaten Dublin 36 times in league and championship. In two weeks Meath will saviour their 37th victory over Dublin. Who will be Meaths Seamus Darby. Cud it be McMahon Sullivan Newman. I think it will be goal from James Conlon.

The papers on Monday 24th June will have these headline

23rd June The Day the Royals rocked Dublin and the whole the gaa to it very foundations.
Meath 2 - 14
Dublin 0 - 16"
That really is some self congratulatory nonsense.

That lad loves blowing and long winded passages about days of yore. Only one of yer last AI winning team remaining now. Paddy Prendergast on his own now from that side. Could it be he'll see them get over the line ?

TLDR

Meath don't fear the Dubs.

Another handy one coming up despite the optimism of some Meath fans. If Laois could hit a barn door yesterday we could well be talking about different opposition on Sunday week. I'd rate Kildare more highly than Meath based on what I saw yesterday from both sides and predict we will win this one by 12 -16 points without even hitting our straps.

That doesn't even make sense. At least it's not bottlers what?

You note I didn't disparage Meath in anyway. I took issue with the particular post and stated why. You on the other hand have just come out with the same tired, cliched guff about Mayo simply on the basis that someone from Mayo posted something you didn't like that wasn't even critical of Meath GAA. Seeing your stuff over the years though, it's not a suprise. You are a grown up, right?

Even the Dubs are getting bored of winning Leinster now. In fairness it cant be that exciting going into games knowing you're gonna win by 15+ each time

Ah lads look I know we have no chance, and I'd just like to take the opportunity to apologise to Dublin for inconveniencing them in 2 weeks time.

Meath are on the no hopers list, same as:

Offaly v Kerry 1982
Deller v Bristow 1983
Douglas v Tyson 1990
Part v Taylor 2003
Giants v Patriots Superbowl 42
Ruiz v Joshua this month

All no hopers, pointless even turning up, HON DA ROYAL :-)

Did you say the same when you were driving to Portlaoise to play Carlow or going into Croker to see your team pummel Laois yesterday? :) It's all relative. It's supporting your county. Some of the point taking yesterday from both counties was outstanding. Clucko's fantastic save from point blank range was almost worth the entrance fee alone. These lads play fantastic football and will go down as the greatest or one of the greatest teams to play the game. Who wouldn't want to see them and tell their grandchildren in years to come that you watched them play. We'll enjoy it while it lasts.
