Comparing the Munster and Leinster Championship is ridiculous. It's just a non runner. The crowds dont compare..the intensity, publicity ect. It's a different ball game. We should just enjoy both and quit comparing.

Intensity was non existent when Limerick hammered Waterford & Clare by nearly 40 points!
Not much in Tipp's wins either and that includes their win in Cork.

Lads this thread has turned into a real munster-leinster rivalry. Shame so few of us bothered supporting the Railway Cup which fizzled out due to lack of interest......

What next, Cork bet and the hay saved..

Suppose a new one for Limerick will be out of the round robin and the first cut done.

It was all Leinster. Whats your point?

Go back and read through the thread, i was replying to a fairly stupid joke. I've no interest in this Munster vs Leinster, it's very petty. Good teams in both provinces, 6 or 7 teams that are well able to beat each other. Wouldn't it be worse if it was like the football, 1 unbelievable team, 3 or 4 good teams and who cares about the rest.

Replying To bottletopbill:  "Don't give us that rubbish. Galway pushed to a replay by KK last year in Leinster final and Galway within a whisker of beating Limerick after hurling for all of 12 minutes! On another point I can't get over the short memories here on this site. In the 70's,80's
and 90's Leinster finals attracted 50-60k spectators and were hard fought games between kk,Wex and Off, with very little between them.Contrast in the 70's and 80's in munster when cork dished out the mother of all hidings in finals to teams in front of 20-30k spectators.I rem been at 2 munster finals in the 80s with the grounds half empty. The munster championship has definitely been more evenly balanced in the last 10-15 years, but you can't argue with the facts that this year is poor viewing on majority of their games. Leinster on other hand has been better this year, Galway are our yardstick and none of us are that far behind them. Hurling needs all the counties competitive to survive in the coming years"
Galway are not a REAL Leinster county. The idea they only hurled for 12 minutes last August is pure unadulterated nonsense. The fact is 14 of the Galway players that performed That day played in the two 2015 finals, so many of that team were playing in their fourth final in four years. The simple fact is they played as well as they were let and Limerick, a team who had not one player, who previously played in a final won the match fair and square. A Galwegian friend of mine txtd his congratulations the morning after the final. This man hurled with Galway, his brother was a playing member of an All Ireland winning team and his two sons played in Galway under age teams. I texted back to thank him and said 'I suppose we were lucky'. His reply was succinct, 'not at all' he said ' Limerick were a better team by a mile on the day- never mind the final score'. No less a personage that Joe Canning said if Galway had got a draw at the end it would have been ' a travesty'- his exact words. Ye detractors also forget that Limerick, as in fairness Wexford did the year before, also consigned Galway to the second division for another year coming from eight points down in the process in their own pitch in Salthil.
As regards great games and crowds in Leinster before 2000- well that is true but there was also some very small turn outs- as in 1980 when 9,000 people attended the final. Due to a Wexford connection I attended several of those games and I think most of the major attendances occurred on days when Wexford were involved.

What an embarrassing thread this turned in to!! I genuinely couldn't care less who has the better cship. If Tipp are lucky enough to win the All Ireland in whatever year, I don't care if there's 3 Leinster teams with them in the semis.

For what it's worth though, I'd fear both Galway and KK if we meet them in the knockout stages. I also don't think any of the 6 teams that will be left will be guaranteed of a win against another. Cship is about to kick off in a big way this weekend so enjoy it and grow up!

There should be relegation from the munster championship its a joke teams like waterford and clare get a free pass when offaly get relegation. Munster is rigged to stop other teams from developing

Dec. That is a nice one and remember Clare was in Connaught until about 12 or 1300. In fact Connacht extended as far as Donougmore and the general South Liberties area of Limerick in those days. Bring back the real Connacht I say.

The Wexford swarmball and goading opposition tactics are Tyrone rubber-stamped.

So you believe the Kerry the second last in McDonagh should replace Waterford?

I agree it should be fair but we are far off that

Your right 4th and 5th place should fight some kind of relegation battle. I'd fancy Galway to do well, with joe back.

I was being sarcastic I think this has been the best Leinster Championship in years. Ever in my lifetime. Even in the golden 90s there were only 3 competitive teams in Leinster. Now there are four. The style you speak of was developed and perfected by the Kilkenny teams of the noughties- defenders playing right on the edge of the rules and forwards buying frees and the swarm of players playing with high intensity to win the ball back. Long before 2003 and Tyrones first All Ireland. Maybe Mickey Harte learned of the great Brian Cody?
