Replying To greysoil:  "Agree as does the majority of independent observers - woolly, Bernard Brogan, Brian Gavin etc etc etc. The only cynical behaviour obvious was that of Madden. We all have our biases & none more so when it comes to inter county competition, so probably no point in arguing with those who don't want to see reality. The only thing I would ask anyone who believes that was a penalty is to remove there goggles & ask them how would they view it if their team was the recipient of this sub standard decision making by the ref. No doubt there was a hand on the back but to suggest a push - some contributors need to cop on. I was beside where it happened & have watched it many times.
No complaints about the overall result, but have little tolerance for ridiculous commentary on the (never in a million years or even 32 years) penalty."
I am a completely independent observer and from the link I've posted above are you honestly telling me there is no push there by Wylie?? If Dublin were penalised in such a way I'd not be overly happy about it because as I've already said it's a very soft penalty but the clip above clearly shows a push. I don't know how you can't see that to be honest.

Replying To Loughduff Lad:  "Yes there was lad. What's your deal? You've a serious bee in your bonnet about this. It was soft but Wylie had his hand on his back and nudged him. BBC had a replay where you can see it plain as day. It's harsh as I've said, but he did it. He knows the consequences when he did it, as every child in the country being coached knows - hand on the back you'll give away a foul... Let it go will you"
Zero push shocking decision. No bee in my bonnet it's the call that decides the game it's a huge mistake by the referee. Doesn't matter how good Cavan were or how bad Monaghan were that penalty changes everything and it's the difference in the end.

You can't give an opinion on here without an agenda or I'm against Cavan , why would I care I've no Monaghan or Cavan blood whatsoever , I'm happy for Cavan people that they won ,but it's a shocking call by the ref and it needs to be called out. Well done Cavan they took that break and got the result.

And some commentators have said it was a penalty - McStay, BBC lads and others I've heard. Said constantly that it is very soft and harsh on Monaghan, but you can surely see why it was given... He had his hand on his back and Lane indicated a push and that's what it was given for. Posters above have said he dived and he should be sanctioned. Ridiculous. He was trying to control the ball and was nudged by Wylie as you can clearly see. I'm not looking at this with bias, I can see both sides and say it's harsh, but can you say you're not looking at the incident with your goggles?

I think we will just have to agree to differ with the lads here Loughduff. I think the video posted above shows a push. If those who claim it isn't one then they have different definitions of what a push is. Neither of us are claiming it wasn't a soft penalty at all but if fellas don't want to acknowledge the hand on the bank and the pushing motion then there's not much we can do. I actually started to doubt myself there to the point I had to gather the lads around my desk in work to see if it was me who was seeing things! Turns out they also see the push... oh well.

I wouldnt give it myself if I was reffing a game, not with the view Conor Lane had anyway.

The hand is on the back but I can't see a push motion, if there is one its marginal and it didnt cause the man to fall. He was on his way down and left the leg out. I wouldnt punish him for that either.

I would say it should be no penalty or else call that stuff all the time which Lane did not do and no ref does. His poor performance has taken away from the game and from the Cavan win. The decision was early in the game but I felt we were already shook looking.

Well if the lads around your desk say it's so, it must be true !

Not at all but but just a quick survey to see if there were any other lads blind to the truth as shown in the footage!!!

Would you excuse the pull of the jersey aswell?

How many times do you have to foul someone for it to warrant a free or penalty? Just curious.

No pull of a jersey , it's never a peno it's a shocking decision, end of. I'm never changing my mind it's a huge mistake.

Have you looked at the videos the lads posted above?

If you have and are denying there was a pull of the jersey then you're choosing not to see what's in front of you.

The push was very slight, I agree. But still a push.

It doesn't matter one iota now lads. We complained about Beggan's 13 steps in 2013 but it was never going to make any difference. Same here.

Was that before or after Christopher McGuinness had a perfectly good goal disallowed?
It was a shocking decision on Saturday night from a shockingly poor referee who should not be the championship referees panel.

Delighted Cavan got the win against our noisy neighbours. In relation to the penalty it may well have been harsh but i have zero sympathy for Whyle, lets remember the two stonewall penalties not given to Michael Argue the last time Monaghan came to breffni park in championship, outrageous decisions, there were numerous that day. Didnt hear any monaghan people complain then.
Take it on the chin lads.
