We don't seem to dwell at all on our trip across the water. Under the radar or lacking confidence? All about Mayo and NY yet huge Galway numbers over here already and plenty more to come tomorrow. I agree with yew tree though in terms of these occasions being huge for the GAA.

There's huge numbers heading to Ruislip on Sunday, events on all over London all weekend, fundraising events etc yet as noted we dont harp on about it. We're not as fanatical, lowers in numbers for football but we are a massive GAA county and Mayo will always be in our shadow. Enjoy the weekend to all the Galway followers over there, and a big shoutout to all in Frostys bar in Kenton and the big Tuam Stadium fundraiser.

Would agree Belclare.

Mayo football supporters are up there with Irish football fans/Bandwagoners at international tournaments in their love of constantly praising themselves.

We don't harp on about it says he as he harps on about it. Maybe we're just naive but we don't feel as if we're in Galway's shadow. We realize of course how difficult it is to compete against a county with twice our population but we feel that we have acquitted ourselves quite well over the years. With Galway's population on the rise and ours heading in the opposite direction I presume Galway will eventually dominate Connacht but maybe not just yet!

Fair play to London for giving a top 6 side such a good game this afternoon. London would have learnt more about themselves in that game today than they would in 100 tier 2 championship games. (food for thought) Galway found the going tough against a well organised defence today and are lucky that they are playing Sligo next who are so poorly organised in defence.

A big warning to us for next Sunday, Leitrim will be very encouraged by that London performance this afternoon and they are already on a high with promotion to Div 3.

All the best to Cathal Compton and Kevin Finn this afternoon in New York, the target there is keeping the margin of defeat down as low as possible.

funny thing is i live in london and the difference between mayo and galway over here on the bank holiday wknd is night and day ..
London GAA delayed the stadium rebuild from going ahead not so long ago was down to knowing Mayo were coming over.
Delaying it would allow them generate further funds to put towards it,

I said it years ago that if London/NY were playing in the weaker provinces they would be winning games often, Connacht is tough

Galway is a dual county, so forget the population talk. NY has 10 million ffs, does it really help?

this is the weakest New York team for the best part of a decade and they have very little preparation done for this championship game compared to recent years. With that in mind Mayo should win by a cricket score without getting out of 2nd gear.

So there's another reason, bar population, Leitrim don't have as many Connachts as Galway or Mayo and All Ireland's as Dublin.

Difficult conditions with rain, swirling wind and pitch surface. They had forty three shots at the posts, some kind of record I'd say.

If Mayo people are living up there then the next generation will be playing for Galway. If they are only working there then they will be down in the census as living in Mayo.

Connaught is in fact the weakest provence of the four as in all Ireland's won. Leinster is in fact the strongest with 50 all Ireland's followed by Munster on 49 Ulster have 17 and finally connaught only have 14. New York have been very close to winning a game and London have reached a connaught final something that definitely wouldn't of happened in the other three.

No. Sure a record is a round black vinyl yoke with a hole in the middle.

Oh god, who exactly would lose to either london/new york? And Kilkenny dont count. So the pasting that New York got underscores how "tough" Connacht is? Bizarre punditry
