Replying To candlewax:  "Well to be fair to McLoughlin was he not the man to step up and get a last minute super point to save Mayo from Div 2 football during Rochford's reign.
Who would you have liked to have taken it? A kick for a left footer and Regan was taken off.
He was right to take it off Diarmuid O Connor who had a really poor game."
Conor Loftus.

Replying To GreenandRed:  "Conor Loftus."
Giving Diarmuid o Connor captaincy was another ridiculous decision and he went hiding all game Sat night and then took Loftus off the free at the end .

He did Candlewax, but doing it without thinking and having to be deliberate in front of a crowd are as different as letting out a roar and making a speech. Was it not a case that DOC wanted him to take it... could be wrong, but that's what I heard. Not important now, except to learn from it.

Strange we didn't see much of Loftus in the league and Ciarán Tracey stayed on the bench...I know we are not privy to what's going on in training but it was a strange one. Card and McDonagh were injured.

Andy Moran a great servent for Mayo but Father Time looks to have caught up with him. Keith Higgins too.

I hope he gives the younger lads a run in the qualifiers however long we last in them. Super 8s a long way off....only positive I can think of right now is our underage teams are doing well....structures and good coaches finally in place after a few years of neglect and bad results.

Well if that's the case that was poor from O'Connor. If Loftus wanted it, he should have been given it.
Best two teams in Connacht over the last few years in the final and it should be a good one.

He's captain for the season so had to be captain. The bigger question is was he fully fit on Saturday night?

Should be a Cracker,
Hopefully the winner will represent Connacht well in the lateral stages of the tournament.

Free at the end, O Connor waved over Mcloughlin who actually shook his head to say no, O Connor kept callling him and eventually came over to take it. Loftus wanted it, O Connor wouldnt give it to him snd wasnt going to take it himself.
DOC has been out injured and def wasnt match fit, shouldnt have played full game or maybe not started.

Well they did last year, so we'll hope for continued progress.

Progress will be gauged on how you compete against the bar which has been set by Dublin.
Last year they were granted a 4th All-Ireland without having to break any sweat.
Hopefully last years submission won't happen again this year.

Doubtful, it would be a big ask for Leitrim to join the big two from the Connacht Final!!

funny. But in fairness Mayo will reach the Super 8's and they have plenty of time to prepare and shake off the Roscommon faux pas. Mayo are a good team. Now, who ever loses Connacht are in hot water and may not make the Super 8's mark my words. Galway will need their A game I tell you.

Hate to burst your bubble but as Donegal v Tyrone is a semi final, Mayo can't get the loser of that match.

But we could get Galway if the Rossies win the Conn final, or Kildare, Meath, Cork, or whatever beast gets slain in the Ulster final... all beatable and losable. Need to get past rounds 2 and 3 first. We're stuck with the hard road now.

Either way it's the end of this great Mayo team after this season , if they somehow come back and win Sam they'll have around ten retirements and if they get knocked out early they'll have ten retirements. As much as I hate them (in a sports way I don't hate anyone) I'll defo miss them in a weird way.
