Cavan V Roscommon

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

A huge relegation scrap at Kingspan Breffni on Sunday. I can see Cavan getting a result from this if they can put in a consistent performance for 70 minutes. They're lacking in a few marquee forwards though. Conor Cox has already proven an excellent acquisition for Roscommon and with the Smiths and possibly Diarmuid Murtagh back, they've plenty of options up front. But I'll still go for Cavan to squeeze it.

Roscommon have much better players than Cavan & beat them every time. This time should be no different.

Wouldn't say they're much better. Pretty similar squads talent wise, Cavan have thrown away multiple winning positions over the years against them. Just need to rid themselves of this hoodoo. Both teams trajectories over the years are very similar, Roscommon are not much better...

Mayo only beat Roscommon by a goal that shouldn't have been allowed. I wouldn't be getting too ahead of yourselves yet.

Two similarly enough squads. Cavan are just lacking in a few quality forwards. They seem to lack the cutting edge up front. The only team from all four divisions not to score a goal.

Exactly, quality in the forwards is missing. Are missing players such as Caoimhin Reilly, McKiernan and Gerry Smith. McVeety seems to be half fit right now too. Lack of goals very concerning, haven't even looked like scoring any this year so far. Hopefully they'll look better with a full team out though

Nobody in in Roscommon thinks we are way ahead as Cavan. I agree both counties have been fairly similar over the last few years from u21 to Senior. Cavan have thrown away a few good positions against us. Hopefully same happens Sunday. One thing for sure is nobody in Roscommon is under estimating Cavan.

I agree with all that..its going to be a tight game..cavan and roscommon have improved on last year..we won't see 8 goals on Sunday.

Such immaturity by you & your fellow county men. Rather embarrassing. Focus on the future & not the past. Also I am sure there is some surgical intervention that may relieve the chips - perhaps a group discount might also apply?

Will be tight.

Hopefully Cavan win for from a Tyrone point of view.

Is it on TV?

This game will probably come too soon for three of our best players in Diarmuid Murtagh,Sean Mullooly,Brian Stack and Niall Daly who has been one of best players this year and who didn't play against Tyrone is a doubt for this match also.

This is arguably our most important league game of the year, win and we'll be well on the way to staying up,lose and we will be dragged into a relegation dogfight and another draw would leave us in precarious position.

I have no doubt that Cavan playing at home will throw the kitchen sink at us knowing this is their last chance saloon in order to stay up themselves. They are certainly not to be underestimated as they could easily have got something out of their games v Galway,Kerry and take away the dodgy goal they weren't too far off Mayo in Castlebar either.

Yes we have a good recent record against Cavan however this is a new game and that record won't count for a lot come throw in. In order for us to grab the vital win we must be well prepared and focused for this challenge ahead on Sunday.
