The Fridge - I was in Omagh, I didnt see any celebrating in the stand after. The majority of people in the stand were Mayo people and the few tyrone that were there nearly all left with a few minutes to go. I think if anything Mayo supporters were just shocked to go with 5 new starters and to win by so much but all Mayo supporters i spoke to felt the same you could not read anything into game because Tyrone were so bad.

Also official attendance was about 6400 that day, with about 3500-4000 of them were from Mayo. As I said Tyrone 'supporters' were leaving the stand with a few minutes to go. Tyrone had a large following this last few years. Just wondering why they were so badly supported at home that day ??

Replying To Dubh_linn:  "Maybe they were just youngsters with soup onboard and acting the eejit. If you attend most games, particularly later championship though ,or god forbid an All Ireland final you will witness every Tom ,Dick and Harry who can get a ticket attending and most of the younger ones don't have a clue where they are with alcohol.
I met a group of Tyrone fans attending a game a couple of years ago and most were well on but on poor fella was trying to convince anyone who would listen that he was American , which he clearly wasn't.
Buck lepping though ,is one I haven't witnessed."
You obviously missed Buck Lepping with the Stars, then Dubh-linn? I think it was won last year by Kieran Donaghy and the goat from the Killorglin Puck Fair, both styled in matching outfits by Paul Galvin.

Going back over time, I'd rate Christy Heffernan's goal scoring celebration as the most naturally spontaneous buck lep I've had the privilege to witness first hand! Christy had a style you certainly couldn't teach!

Are you honestly telling me there was 4000 Mayo supporters in Healy Park? You are living in cloud cuckoo land.

I think the other posters on here will agree with me that there wasnt anywhere close to 4000 Mayo supporters there.

Completely agree about supporters not having a clue with drink in them. Ive been to many games where grown men and women clearly shouldnt have been let in. Health and safety hazard but extremely annoying if your within hearing distance of them."
Yes that's what we need to do, not let in annoying supporters.... Maybe we should ban annoying people from pubs too and mass

Well then you weren't at Healy Park if you think 60% of the crowd was from Mayo.

Ridiculous statement. Factually incorrect

Yes I was in Healy Park and every other venue Mayo played in this year. Ye were well outnumbered and you know it. Im just asking whats wrong? why have ye stopped supporting the team?

I see, I was going to suggest perhaps Seamus Darby as a possible exponent of this rural pastime but I see you are somewhat more learned and cultured in the finer traits of this fine art.
Christy Hennessy, ah yes , I can see him now with his tall and awkward gait doing that jig after scoring.
I bow to you're superior knowledge oh wise one.

Is there some sort of an issue with you putting up my posts. I have better things to be doing if you cannot even be bothered doing this.

I didn't I'm afraid, I presume it's up on YouTube, no ?
I was going to suggest perhaps, Seamus Darby's celebrations after ruining Kerry's 5 in a row hopes but I will bow to your superior knowledge on such matters as it is something our rural brethren seem to be more familiar with.
Ah yes, Christy Heffernan , I can see him now in that soft haze of my imagination. His awkward gait and gangly limbs as he wheels away yelping and beckoning to the enemy.

I'll be sure to read up on this dying art and would be grateful for any pointers you might have on suitable tomes that could help us souls who are somewhat unfamiliar with said Buck Lepping.

the harsh truth of the matter is that tyrone are no-where near Mayos level and havent been for over a decade now ,"
Not sure, that is very fair Tyrone were in the All Ireland final last year and could have been the year before that but had bad luck drawing ourselves in the semi final.

You can pick any subjective time frame like 10 years or 20 years and Tyrone and the comparrison becomes a fair bit more weighted in Tyrone favour.

I'd have a fairly healthy respect for Tyrone and the damage they can do, not sure there has been another county who made such huge strides in a short space of time as Tyrone in the last two, arguably three decades.

If you're thinking of giving it a go Dubh-linn you'd need to invest in an old pair of wellies for a start (the older the better). To acquire the right gait, you should leave those wellies on, day and night, for all of your formative years, while you're doing your growing, so that even when you take them off you'll still walk, run and jump (or buck lepp) like they're still a part of you. Assuming you're past the growing phase, you could try leaving them on for a decade or so, to see if you can develop that necessary relationship between you and the terra firma which is best exhibited when leaving it, legs slightly apart, with a small bit of rotation.

As with bardic wisdom, nothing has been written down on this subject up to now, so there could be a book in it for a keen, objective observer (such as yourself, maybe?)!

That's too subtle for me Realdub... perhaps we might ask Fridge what exactly he observed Mayo supporters doing in the stands? I was just assuming some show of exuberance... nothing more!
