Tyrone Vs Mayo

Replying To Byanthon:  "Just like last year against Galway on the opening day of the league Tyrone were slow, ponderous and low scoring. I wonder if this is a result of the training schedule so that by the summer they are flying and able to amass good scores. If this is the case it does not argue well for Sunday."
A carbon copy. Big improvement needed. I see Canavan and Mulgrew are off the panel on Sunday. Nice to see Frank Burns come back in. He had a great year last year which fizzled out in the last few games sadly. He was exceptional against Mayo in the reverse league fixture in Castlebar.

Mayo have been like that for years in league also, heavy legged, slow, not much off the shoulder butsting through..probably wont be high scoring game but as long as Mayo start the few new lads again and they get game time and expierence against a Tyrone team away then ill be happy

Hennelly in goal again. Beyond logic

Wonder what's the average age Yew. Fair play to Horan for putting out such a young team. Good mixture of strength and pace. Baptism of fire for some of them as Tyrone won't stand back to admire them but these type of games will tell a lot about a player. Interesting times.

Unless Tyrone have a dramatic improvement from last Sunday well there's only one way this one's going "West". People have been hanging around waiting to see a great "shooting improvement" from Tyrone this past two years but it appears that Mickie or whoever is in charge seems to have them shackled this year again. Stephen o Neills work is not being brought into their game plan.

I'm sure someone from another county can give us the average age as they seem obsessed with it.

Good team to have out.
Id like too see Drake play a game at full back, might not suit him but hes big strong athletic be worth a go in my opinion.
Hennelly in goals is always a liability, could they not give another goalkeeper a game, its not like Hennelly is there as a calmness for defence.

Average age is 25 by my reckoning.

Would agree with you on Robbie, an honest lad but has been given enough chances at this stage. David Clarke should be starting in the majority of our games IMO. I've seldom seen a GAA keeper as strong on one-on-ones or at saving penalties-he saved four in a row at one point- and he brings a steadiness under the high ball. Only thing is that his kickouts aren't brilliant at times.

As for the role of backup goalie, there's several fine candidates across the county who would be worth giving a chance to- Matthew Flanagan of Balla, Rory Byrne of Castlebar Mitchels, Paddy O'Malley of Westport, I've even heard some touting Mícheál Schlingermann (formerly of Longford Town and Sligo Rovers).

Happy with the team picked, although it looks like the high ball into the square could be a problem for us. Good to see young forwards being tried against a strong team. though It'll be a surprise if the team comes home with a point... that'd be bonus.

Deferred, TG4 showing it later.

Good first half showing from Mayo, 1-7 to 0-3 at half-time.

Great performance from Mayo, some of the newbies in particular showing well, Fionn McDonagh bagging 1-2. Diskin, Plunkett and Treacy also performed well.

Tyrone very poor, Peter Harte aside. Some bad wides and balls dropping short from pretty scorablw positions, and unusually wide open at the back.

You know your stuff. Another 15 points for Tyrone and you'd be spot on!

Great win for Mayo up in Omagh. Not bad for an "old" team with no new talent coming through. Young lads done well especially Fionn McDonagh.

Great result for Mayo. Pressure off now.

Tyrone, on the other hand, are in big bother.
