Up For The Match

Will there be an UFTM this weekend?
How will that work????
Tyrone thrive on siege mentality, understandably, so its hard to see any way they can get a 50/50 panel on ?
Also, if Tyrone win, will Michael be at their hotel or will his last SG end up after the day show ends??

It's only the current panel who are boycotting RTE, past players have no problem working with them. I imagine there will be a few Tyrone folk who will be happy to take part.

Phillip Jordan has featured on RTE in the recent past

And Sean Cavanagh seemed to walk off the pitch after his last game and land in the RTE studio.

I'm sure a few from 1995 and 1986 can be called upon to provide the Tyrone angle.

There will be contribution to up for the match as said but if the planets somehow align and Tyrone win there will absolutely be no access to the Team Banquet for RTE, Lyster's last stand or not

I think they are having a different show called "Already up for the match" instead...

Still makes me shudder today that programme, I think it should be modernised in some way or thrown on the scrap heap.

2 things:

1. Tyrone won't win. They may (best case) run it reasonably close, but, unless they shoot themselves in both feet, Dublin will win it, so the problem doesn't really arise.

2. Anyway, in a Hoganstand semi-exclusive, RTÉ has drawn up secret contingency plans:

The " banter " between both presenters is outdated and cringeworthy to put it midly. Show needs a complete overhaul, new format, new presenters. I'd be interested to hear what everyone thinks?

the conspiracy theorist in me thinks that the gaa/rte powers will have a contingency sorted between them unless tyrone are really ahead with a short time left and its outta the refs hands so neither are left embarrassed by tyrones pointless boycott for the banquet sequence or if a tyrone man gets mom, a personal dispute with mh and rte starting with trying to influence staffing and escalated from there should not have dragged the tyrone gaa into it, personally don't think we'll need to worry about any cameras or lyster

Used to watch it with my dad in the 90's then grew out of it, watched it in 2011 for the novelty of Dublin being back in a final after 16 years, then realised why I stopped watching it in the first place and haven't watched it since.

If there is an UFTM, I hope its abit better than the hurling UFTM, it showed little (or none?) coverage of the finals Limerick lost or the finals Galway lost since 1980, I know they might not want to see them but at the end of the day they were both second best teams in the land on a good few occasions since 1980 final, and the players who played in them finals deserved a review/appraisal. The main clip showed on the hurling UFTM was when the fulltime whistel went in 1973 in Limericks last win against Kilkenny and the fans spread on to the field and Micheal O Hehir commentating on the scenes..there were league finals between both counties in the 1980's and 90's and maybe the 00's, but not one clip of them...normally they show previous clips and highlights, but no, not this time...then they finished up with a version of the Wests Awake!!!...surely a few songs from 1980, we won the Eurovision in 1980 with Johnny Logan, whats another year would be a very apt song to finish with showing clips of 1980 final as both counties went many years without a title since their last...dont want to get too deep in the thing but UFTM used to show clips we forgot about, and ones we savoured, now its all changed, and kind of boring....

Was this a Guinness world record attempt at the longest sentence on a message board? Capitalisation and punctuation are your friend. No conspiracy theory. I'm sure RTE have plans should Tyrone win. I can just see it now, Fair City stunt doubles will be substituted in for the Tyrone contingent. "Mickey, What's it like to win Sam again?" "It's bleedin rapit Michael"

Up for the Match is easily the worst programme in the history of television worldwide.
