Have all the Rathkenny Minors joined up with Seneschalstown ? Or is it just a few that have

Just the 3 lads joined, Rathkenny obviously not interested in getting football for the rest of their minor players... Hard to believe that a club would treat their young members like this..

What's worst is that Seneschalstown took them in and played them in front of the players they already had. Lads that played with them from the nursery, when they won u16 division 2.. Lads that they want to bring through to play adult football. From the outside it looks like they were brought in to win minor championship..

Rathkenny players return to their club in couple of months..

Maybe it's county boards fault for letting this happen..

Here we have the Cilles , working for the last 10 years with their faboulous schools program and producing top players and teams now and the county boards answer, rather than have other clubs work hard the same as the Cilles , it's lets take a shortcut and merge teams so we can take them on. Feel sorry for the litany of poor subs who don't even get to play in the Minor Champuonship."
I though that our By laws prevented that sort of thing . I thought that the maximum number of clubs allowed to amalgamate was 3 . Or is that 3 parishes ? not clubs . North Meath Gaels were via for an amalgamation a number of years ago with a fourth club ( Parish) and the bye laws prevented it .
Is it oonce the clubs are in the one parish its allowed . Then you could have Simonstown , NOM , Bective , And possibly Walterstown doing the exact same . Mad laws

Some interesting results from teh Minor Championship this week!

Group 1 decided with Seneschalstown and Navan through. Playing one another next week to see who goes through top of the group! Seneschalstown looking impressive!

Group 2 much tighter as expected. Cilles did a job on Ashbourne and probably should have won by more than the scoreline suggests!
Ratoath caused a bit of a surprise beating the Combination team. So it comes down to the last week to decide this group. Will home advantage give Cilles and Don/Ash the edge?

Good thinking from co board in fixing all knockout cup matches this weekend to clash directly with minor championship final round.

You Mean Senechalstown with Rathkennys 3 County Minors are looking impressive. I dont know how a club like Rathkenny allow this to happen. This is the weirdest and I must say completely daftest idea of a team in the Minor Championship. We have the 3 best Rathkenny players playing for Senchalstown, so clearly it should be classed as an amalgamation yet Senchalstown are getting all the credit here posing as just Senchalstown and not Senchalstown/Rathkenny. They would not be winning and looking anywhere near as impressive if these lads from Rathkenny were not playing for them.

Not forgetting what about all the poor 16's and other 17's in Rathkenny who don't get to play Minor. Really begs serious questions of the County Board who are forever talking about Player Development but actually dont care about the lesser players or lads who might and who do develop late. This team rather than add something to the Minor Championship actually takes away from it.

While I don't necessarily agree with the amalgamation, I believe it got to the stage where Seneschalstown were the last resort for the 3 Rathkenny players as a number of other clubs would not take them. Also only 1 of the 3 players featured on the county minor squad in 2018.

With regard to the other 16s in Ratkenny, they had given a number of walkovers in the U16 league, so perhaps numbers are few and far between. I remember when our club travelled to play Ratkenny when this group was U14, Ratkenny had to field a number of 11 year olds just to fulfill the game at 11 a side.

As for the championship semi finals, it's Seneschalstown v Donaghmore/Ashbourne and St. Colmcilles v O'Mahonys.

I mean Senechalstown as that is what they are billed as! But like you - I don't agree with the amalgamation and I agree with the points you make on it.

As for the games at the weekend, as expected Senechalstown made light work of O'Mahony's to top that group. Don/Ash did a job on the Amalagamation team to claim top spot in the second group and Cilles came out the right side of a cracking game against Rathoath! Cilles got off to a great start with a few early goals and even though Rathoath pulled it back and got in front a late Cilles goal got them across the line - Goals win games!!

I think we are looking at a Senechalston (Rathkenny) v Don/Ash final

Senchalstown/Rathkenny V Colmcilles final. Colmcilles play O Mahonys, the former plays Don/Ashbourne . Cant see any one beating this Senchalstown/Rathkenny outfit. Colmcilles V Ratoath game from all accounts was entertaining but a very poor standard.

Yep - you are right on teh pairing and probably right on the outcome! I was at teh Cilles Rathoath game - It was entertaining - not sure I would say the standard was very poor! There was some very good play at times and some bad mistakes too - but that was more down to the pressure both teams were putting the other under! I have been at Senior matches this year where the standard was much worse and I have paid into games in PT that have been of a far lower standard!

Be shocked if Dunshaughlin win Div 2, have been very average and a little lucky to date. North meath gaels or Skryne for me
