Donegal V Tyrone

Like why not attack from the start? I don't get the negative tactics, fear first. Go out to try to win the game on your own terms, not rely on the other team not being good enough to punish the fearful, slow, ponderous, negative sh1te.

Flat out attack from first to last will be only way any team will beat Dubs.

Donegal collapse in last quarter was unexpected, seemed well in control till then; but Tyrone subs were excellent, esp Lee Brennan

I'm sure most Donegal and tyrone fans will agree with me here but joe mcquillan had an awful game. he was incredibly poor to both teams

Pure nonsense. We deserved our Ulster title. If you deserved it, then you would have won it, but you didn't. Simple as that. In fact you didn't make it past the first round.

You were the better team today, no excuses here or no put-downs either... leave that to you

Clondalkindub has been saying this for some time.

He's a traditionalist.

He was right about that first half though it was muck.

Second half was decent by Tyrone.

I don't understand the negative tactics both teams started off with.

It was hard to call who'd be the better team, why wouldn't you set up to see if you're better.

I'm not a traditionalist by the way. There has to be good defending, and getting men behind the ball after losing possession but that first half took it to the extreme. It was typical of both teams to have 13 and even 14 men behind the ball. That's crazy.

Hard luck our fellas. We gave it a good rattle. I said to a buddy before the game that Tyrone are a 2nd half side. They were. Good luck going forward, your team are dangerous enough to challenge anyone. Improvement needed for sure but tweeking is possible.

Dublin hammer Tyrone last year we were all sure that was the end of it no these bleeding nordys are even more defensive this year god help us.

"Ah but Dublin play defensive" bs we play to the style of team we're playing against"
Aha, the old playground excuse when you're 5 - 'he started it'. All the top teams play the same style, the only difference is that Dublin are better at it, and have more quality players. You need to check the stats instead of listening to gurus like ex Dublin managers and the last-century cuckoo clocks on RTE. Dublin are nailed on certainties for this year's Sam; you have the players, the squad depth and crucially you don't panic when the game is in the balance. Ulster? Awful as we are, we still had 3 teams in the last 5. It'll be a while before we see that many Leinster teams getting that far.

Look Donegal are deserving Ulster champions they won it fair and square , we were good today , and finished well , but take nothing away from a young squad who won Ulster ps glad we have made the semis

We were 3 up at that stage but it nearly seemed like the whole team took that hit because the wheels came off completely after that. We never at any stage looked like getting back into it after Tyrone's goal. Disappointing from such a good position being 4 points up. Tyrones bench made a big impact."
You been a Tyrone man it must be difficult lad. I can't see how one foul/fair tackle can completely change a game. Donegal turned over time and time again in last 25 mins.....with Colm Cav responsible for a lot of that. Bench, as you say, were excellent for Tyrone. We are further on in our progress then Donegal. It caught up on them.
Fair play to Donegal, great game.

Hard to assess either team after this game. Tyrone were poor in the first half with Ryan McHugh running the show for Donegal. A change of marker on McHugh and the introduction of a few Tyrone subs changed the course of the game. Donegal, without the promptings of McHugh, looked increasingly tired and listless whilst Tyrone suddenly had pace and power and won easily enough in the finish.
Maybe Donegal have flattered to deceive and are no better than under Gallagher. Maybe Tyrone have, over the summer, grown into the real deal and could go further. We will have to wait to find out.

a handy one because monaghan and tyrone both messed up and lost, don't see your argument here. Donegal are deserving Ulster champions and i don't see why anyone would question that

Handy because we won it handily, opposition didn't put up much of a show.

Well I think it's self evident why it was questioned. You were well beaten at home by another Ulster team further on in the championship when the stakes were arguably higher.

Congrats to Tyrone. Better team on the day win. Fitness and bench won it. I don't think Tyrone use energy in the first half on purpose and then attack late in games. You heard of the 3rd quarter spell with Donegal 2012 and 2014, Dublin the past few seasons, well I think Tyrone have added a new 3/3 spell where they kick on after the last 20. More runners etc attacking in numbers. At the start they didn't. Add in the subs of equal quality and boom you have it

Fair play on the win today but it's extremely poor fare to try to diminish our Ulster title win. Tyrone didn't make it past the first hurdle and that's all there is to it. The bookies still reckon there's an 87% chance that Donegal finish the season with more silverware than Tyrone.
