I know that many people will quite rightly point out that this fella has won only one all ireland. However, for a man to come back from 3 Cruciate (I may have spelt it wrong) injuries, I have to say this man deserves credit. When Cork footballers of note are in short supply, I want to acknowledge one that deserves a tip of the hat. Thanks and well done Colm. One Celtic cross is a log better than none! A great role model for our youth showing how much it meant to him to wear the Cork jersey. The best of luck to Colm O'Neill in his retirement. Maybe in future he can be a coach for Cork.

Class act top full forward in his prime. Liked watching cork when he was playing, always a goal threat for the opposition, some man to come bk from 3 serious knee injuries fair play crnm (Donegal) - Posts: 100 - 18/07/2018 10:00:24 2123398 Link 0 |
Great guy and a great footballer. Even when going well being a Cork footballer is a bit of a thankless job. Few go to see you and cheer you regardless of how well you are doing but yet the whole county has an opinion when you are getting beaten. Still Colm kept coming back despite 3 potentially career ending injuries and continued to give his all for the rebels. Sad to see his inter county career end this way. Hopefully he can get to a stage where he can come back and enjoy some club football in time. dahayeser (Cork) - Posts: 337 - 18/07/2018 10:06:08 2123400 Link 0 |
Probably inevitable but still very sad. Seems extraordinary that one player had so much bad luck with injuries. KildareKelly (Kildare) - Posts: 593 - 18/07/2018 12:36:16 2123459 Link 0 |
One of Cork's best ever forwards. Great ballwinner, freetaker and scoregetter. Rockies (Cork) - Posts: 947 - 19/07/2018 17:00:37 2123820 Link 0 |
what a fantastic player colm was even considering the 3 cruciate injuries he suffered, a joy to watch. that goal in 2009 all ireland final was a glorious moment (pity about the result that day) who knows the heights he could have reached if he didnt suffer the injuries. however with one all ireland, league and munster titles he did very well in his career pidge (Cork) - Posts: 543 - 19/07/2018 19:52:43 2123848 Link 0 |
Great credit to any fella who comes back from those injuries and shows how much it meant to him. Hope he enjoys good health now and best of luck after football. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 19/07/2018 20:51:22 2123866 Link 0 |

An excellent footballer and Had the potential to be the greatest only for those injuries, massive respect for the man and I wish him the best of luck in his retirement, who knows we might see him patrolling the sideline for Cork someday. Unreal talent who, if not prone to injuries with his knee, would have gone on to set some markers. Wish him the best of luck. NarrowBack914 (USA) - Posts: 181 - 20/07/2018 13:32:32 2124012 Link 0 |
Colm O'Neill was a fine footballer, like his father, whom probably exceeded him given the less amount of games played back in the 1980's etc. Colm junior just seemed to get a bit of form and then bang, injury..very unfortunate and a fine footballer..strange his career is ended and I remember his father playing only like yesterday..some free taker too was Colm Senior... Great player and really must have loved to play given what he put himself through to come back each time after those injuries. Good luck Colm. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 21/07/2018 03:42:35 2124196 Link 0 |
