Kilkenny Vs Limerick

Cockney Cat you would be well advised to watch the game again. Don't forget to remove the black and amber tinted specs first. As you would be the 1st to point out when KK come out the right side of the result the ref doesn't win games and supporters should try to show some dignity in defeat.

Both teams put in huge effort today and the ref should not be the focus of attention

I have to say some of the comments here are bordering on the ridiculous. In the early part of the match Kilkenny were given a sideline which came if a Kilkenny player, they scored from it. Every time Sean Finn went out to get ball his Hurley was being pulled, no frees awarded. Darragh O'Donovan was man handled and caught around the neck near the end and this led to a score.

Kilkenny have always played the game on the edge and they met a side that can mix it today. Only for poor finishing Limerick would have won this game handy. Take your beating with some dignity.

Replying To Cockney_Cat:  "But your being biased, My comments are referring to comments made by neutral commentators on TV, Plus, there has already been two (neutral) people from other counties who have said the ref favoured Limerick. Enjoy your win."
yeah I'm being biased to give the other side. The foul near the end stood out (including to neutrals) because it was at a critical stage but no one moment defines a game. Any team that scores 25 points from play is a worthy winner in my book. Limerick dont have a huge amount of days to celebrate like kk so I hope people give the team the credit they deserve instead of saying the ref handed it to us. I'm sure kk got a fee favourable decisions over the years when winning all those ai's. I feel like limerick have been on the wrong side of plenty.

The wet hard surface of the pitch caused many passes and puck-outs to go astray. What was amazing for me was that Limerick didn't panic after the Kilkenny goal, and a subsequent wide on their part, but kept on hurling and deserved their win fully. They looked so calm and formidable, it was scary!

Yeah, that was the difference to Limerick teams up to now. Maybe it is the naivety of youth!

That goal would have killed other Limerick teams. They could easily have been the gallant losers again. To get that point straight away from the puck out was key.

Missing 5 very goal chances is a bit a worry for the Cork game, but the main thing is they got through.

Replying To Cockney_Cat:  "I agree about the free, it was so obvious and dangerous which would have been at least a yellow card and a probable (near certain from TJ) point from the free. Instead Limerick moved the ball up field and scored a point, so instead of KK being rightly 2 points up, they were level. They mentioned it on TV. Anyway, as I said previously. Good luck Limerick, I hope you go on and win the AI."
Agree on all points

Yeah I'm no expert on hurling but I thought the ref gave Kilkenny very little, it looked a bit like the refereeing decisions you get/don't get playing against the Dubs in football at home in Croker.
Still though I'm a hurling convert after today, football super 8's is pure tripe so far anyway.

Hard to watch Galway and Kerry after Limerick and Kilkenny,
World cup was better.

Kilkenny didn't get at least 4 frees. I don't know what's going on with the refs. Are the refs doing challenge matches and getting high expenses down in some counties. Limerick were the better team, but Kilkenny should have won if awarded the frees they deserved.

I agree. Limerick were a 10 points better team than Kilkenny.
On another day, Limerick would have got 3 goals.
It will take a very good Cork team to beat them in semi final.

The ref was poor but Limerick won and deservedly so I wouldn't like to give the impression that the ref helped Limerick to a famous win. KK have no one to blame but themselves for the amount of wides alone, but Limerick were a joy to watch today.

Ref was awful but can't blame him for the defeat when we hit as many scandalous wides as we did. It's also the loosest Kilkenny defensive unit in the Cody era - 27 points conceded last week, 28 the week before, 5 yards off their man nearly every time and goal chances galore.

As I keep saying, I am repeating the observations of the neutral commentators on TV, and on here.

Have to give Limerick credit after a slow start they were 0-04 to 0-01 down and took over after that. They hit some wonderfully struck points but Kilkenny will rue some bad wides when Limerick weren't taking their goal chances.
Can I just say Richie Leahy and John Donnelly almost won that game for KK they were unreal when introduced.
Never saw TJ Reid curbed as much in a game.
Peter Casey and Dowling also had great games when introduced.
On today's display I can see Limerick coming very close to landing Liam they remind me of Galway last year bar the Clare game.
Fair play to Kilkenny 3 tough games in a row would take a lot out of any team.
Congrats to Limerick though this is a serious Limerick team and one that will be around for a long time.

All this talk about the frees and the ref is madness. Limerick barely got a free over the 70 mins we got nothing from the ref and many fouls on us we got nothing for. Absolute rubbish to even suggest the ref had anything to do with the result. Limerick played the better hurling and had the better spread of forwards. Some rubbish written on here earlier about limerick not having a scoring threat when they are probably putting up bigger scores in games than most. Today was our day we woeked hard to get it.
