Quarter Finals:

Galway v Clare
Kerry v Roscommon
Derry v Meath
Kildare v Monaghan

Derry/Meath game hardest to call methinks. The venue might favour Derry (Athletic Grounds) as they have already played there in Ulster Final, but still [slightly
fancy Meath to edge it in the end.Galway

Kerry going for 5 in a row is it?? Have to be stopped

Semi Finals:

Galway / Clare v Meath/ Derry
Kerry /Roscommon v Monaghan /Kildare

Hoping Kildare bury Monaghan and allow all the young Under 17s' in Co. Monaghan to finally get to play a game of club football with 7 months of the year gone. Shame on the powers that be."]In fairness they should have been playing club football 2 months ago after the game in Ballybofey. To their credit they showed great resolve to get through that day. But should never had the chance."]I take your point about the fiasco within the county at under 17 level. It seems that there are some GAA members with more power than they should have. Was wondering if this was connected to the withdrawal from the Gerry Reilly tournament currently being played, that we won last year, and ironically the success that this team is built on.
However it is not the fault of the young lads on the team and we should get behind them regardless.

But I do concur with your annoyance

Quarter Finals:

Galway v Clare - straight forward win for Galway this game should be
Kerry v Roscommon - Ros would put it up Kerry much like Cork did but unlikely now with 3 good starters missing
Derry v Meath - Meath by a few points to spare
Kildare v Monaghan - Too many games for Kildare in a short space of time. Monaghan to win.

Semi finals

Galway v Meath - Galway by 3 or 4 points
Kerry v Monaghan - Kerry by 6 or 7 points

Final

Kerry v Galway (too close to call at the moment and i'll make my mind up on who will win that final later)

Only 4 teams left. I know Monaghan people rate their team very highly after the Gerry Reilly win last year and Ulster win this year. How do people from Galway and Kerry rate their teams ? It would mean so much for Meath to win this going forward into 20's and senior

We definitely dont look as strong as last year weather that's to do with the drop in age from U18 to U17 I don't know,

now of course Clifford was a colossus for us last year and could win a game on his own, his cousin Paul o'shea Is our minor captain this year and he's unreal, he totally dominated the midfield yesterday and got 2/3 points, but our halfback line is poor, very slow and ponderous and try too much to play football when we have nippy forwards inside making runs and the ball not coming in.

I haven't seen Monaghan minors this year so it's hard to call but with banty over them I'd say they'll be sticky and it'l be all on the day.

Galway seemed to struggle with Clare at times today and I didn't think much of Clare in the Munster final.

A minor all ire would be fantastic for this team going forward, and put a pep in the step of a football mad county. From the reports I have read of Derry game and watching Leinster final , this bunch of lads look quite promising. However there is still 120+ minuets to be played. I feel the best 4 in this grade are left to fight it out. So hopefully we can get job done. Back to Croke Park for first time in long while.

Kerry were stronger than last years U17s anyway as we beat then by 5 points in Ennis in the AI semi final. Though our U17s last year was stronger also.

Paul O'Shea was good alright but due to injuries we were without a lot of height and strength in the middle of the park meant we ended up playing defenders in midfield as our one and only fit available midfielder was moved to full forward in search for goals. I seen Galway twice this year they impressed me. A big strong physical side with plenty of pace they clearly took Clare for granted which won't happen v Meath next but they still turned around 0-7 0-0 scoreline to outscore Clare 18 points to 4.

Not bad at all for a level of football that can sometimes be difficult to pick. I'll be back later to predict the winner of the final.
