Replying To s goldrick:  "when did this happen. I cant recall it ever happenning. I do recall however some reserve teams or junior B teams playing in div 3 and even in Div 2."
I can't remember the exact years, but it was only a few years ago, 3 or 4 years ago at most.

You are right about some reserve teams playing in Div 3. Gaels had their reserve team in div 3 for a few years

And that's what's wrong with Junior B now. An ex county senior still at his peak playing Junior B. No room for a reserve player now.

It was at least ten years ago as I remember playing Maghera with our second team and a lot of them lads have long since retired.

The rules state that anybody that is not named on a squads "first twelve" can play reserve football.

The Gaels therefore are entitle to play these fellas in the reserve league.

Yes they are quality players but because other clubs dont have the numbers as Gaels do after they name their first twelve they are left with lads that are actually reserve footballers. Cavan Gaels are still left with quality after they name their first 12.

Ramor played a very strong reserve team last year also and so did Castlerahan.

Only option to make it a level playing field is if teams name more than first 12.

The gaels played the same lads last year, Paul and Andy Graham, Martin Dunne, Niall Smith Barry Fortune, Declan Meehan etc etc and didnt win the championship, Ramor did so why are the gaels been attacked after one good reserve season? The fact is the Gaels and Ramor just have stronger squads.

If you've a strong squad why play starting seniors on junior B team too. Makes a mockery of it.

Gaels are well within there rights to play lads outside the top 12.

I see Belturbet v Swanlinbar is fixed to be played on Wednesday night. I recall reading in the Celt a few months back that this game was abandoned. I believe it was due to the Swanlinbar manager being sent off but then refusing to leave the field. Should Belturbet not have been awarded with the two points? Dangerous precedent to set, as a team losing could use this as a tactic to force a rematch in the future.

Well they've more than three lads playing junior that also make ther senior team so hardly a top 12.

Problem is that teams like the Gaels and every other team that can get away with it names players in their top 12 that they know are either away or injured for the year.If a club knows they have 3 players away, injured or whatever, they will be named in top 12.It then ends up that this team can play six of their senior starting team on a junior team..In the case of the Gaels they have such a good bench at senior level,it ends up that their junior team nearly resembles a decentish senior team.

This year i hear ramor are struggling with numbers this summer with players away, only 5 of the championship team from last year and 3 from 2016 playing vs killygary and Castlerahan. Mcenroe, Brady, etc stateside

"EX" been the key word here.

Raphael Rogers is an "ex" county player playing reserve, Jason o Reilly is an "ex" county player playing reserve.

Yes they may be a bit older than the gaels "ex" county players but thats not his fault.

As i said before. It is within the rules to play who you like in reserve football PROVIDED they are not on your first 12.

I suggest you blame the system for this as its nobody elses fault

Lacken played a finnegan guy who was also an "ex" county player.

I could name more...

Its the system thats wrong and nothing else.

No they do not. But with the age profile of Ramor there was plenty of ex county minors and ex 21s.

Great game today in Tery Coyle. One incident was unsavoury but great football on display. Gaels rested a couple and Castlerahan missing a few. Hopefully recoveries made by injured lads. These two or Ramor for championship.

how is position decided when teams are level on points, in div 1 crosserlough and killygarry level on points crosserlough have better score average but are in a relegation playoff, in div 3, drumlane, killeshandra and kildallan level on points for 2nd place drumlane have best score average and are placed 2nd, if its meant to be on head to head kildallan beat both of them and should 2nd, anyone know the the rules or do the lads still make it up as the go along.
