What a breath of fresh air that game was.The anitithesis of what we've been watching for years now.I know it won't win anybody an all Ireland in todays analytical and tactical approach but man was that good for the soul!.Whats better, that or what we've become accustomed to?. johndsands (Galway) - Posts: 8 - 01/04/2018 15:59:43 2089959 Link 2 |
Excellent game hugely enjoyable to watch ,neither team can defend to save their lives which made a great game Galwayjoe86 (Galway) - Posts: 258 - 01/04/2018 16:15:37 2089963 Link 0 |
Before the game, hoganstand (run by Meath folks) said they wished for an open game but couldn't see it materialising due to Cavans defensive style. Mustn't have watched Gaelic football since 2013! A loss today is tough to take but it'll be fun looking down at the royals fighting desperately for survival in Division 2 again next year! Well done roscommon. The best team in Division 2 this year. Good supporters, good football people. See you in the top tier next spring. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 01/04/2018 16:43:38 2089971 Link 2 |

Delighted for ye lads. I don't remember the last time Connacht football held such potential promise with three of our five great counties dining at the top table. festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3097 - 02/04/2018 02:21:07 2090227 Link 1 |
Not that long ago. The 4 league semi finalists in 2001 were from Connacht. But I get what you mean.

17 years ago feels like yesterday to an aulde man like myself, but in sporting terms, that's a lot of water under the bridge since then! Long may it last.

Congrats to Roscommon. Not complaining about the result or anything, but what exactly is the rule for Roscommons first goal? Seemed like he clearly threw it to me, certainly didn't "volley" it with his hands. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12120 - 03/04/2018 10:07:44 2090549 Link 1 |
Definitely a free out as the ball was caught and then thrown into the net. Mind you, it was almost impossible to make that call in real time so its difficult to complain. Plus to be fair it probably wasn't a penalty for Cavan as the Roscommon defender dislodged the ball from McVeety but got pulled on it. Ah stop this is comical. What is it with Cavan that they cant take there beating against Roscommon. Excuse over Excuse every time we beat ye. Roscommon are better that Cavan we beat ye every time we play get over it. Cuckoosinging (Roscommon) - Posts: 992 - 03/04/2018 11:09:25 2090581 Link 0 |
Very little between Roscommon and cavan in fairness ,2 very evenly matched teams

Get real. Watch it again, he caught the ball and re-directed it. I'm not complaining about the result because ultimately who cares? If it was championship I'd be raging though :) Again, congratulations on the win. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12120 - 03/04/2018 11:57:36 2090598 Link 2 |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzLzoFwXsZA 3.56 mins. Please explain where you see him catch the ball and throw it into the goal. Penaulty looked very harsh there too. Cuckoosinging (Roscommon) - Posts: 992 - 03/04/2018 12:27:48 2090619 Link 0 |
You need to calm down there. I didn't take away from his comment that he was trying to make any excuses for the result. And even if he was, one random Cavan person's comments on an internet forum means that Cavan, in general, can't take their beating? What an odd way of looking at things.

I was so surprised after the game when chatting to so many neutrals to hear how much they enjoyed the game. I guess when you have a vested interest in a team (and they lose) the frustration and disappointment takes over. the Dublin v Galway game i felt was a brilliant game!!!!but most people thought our game was better!!! when i eventually settled down and watched the highlights i did see and understand why neutrals seen it as enthralling. their wasn't a bad goal scored in the game and there was 8 goals!! theweanling (Cavan) - Posts: 414 - 03/04/2018 12:41:43 2090630 Link 0 |
