Galway Vs Dublin League Final

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Congrats to both teams on an exciting league final. The rules need to be reviewed though. Crowded tackling of a man in possession is illegal. Surrounding a player is one thing but 2 tackling one is another. Game suffered today because of this. Still, wasn't dirty and some gr8 scores.

Shocking Refereeing again... Make no mistake this Galway team are a serious side.. Get Michael Daly fit and the few Corofin lads in and we will have a great summer.

Great win with 14 men. Very physical game - Galway were very rough in the tackle. Scully should not have been sent off - second card was a joke. McHugh should get retrospective ban for gouging MDMA. Hope Mayo beat Galway in championship but they will have their work cut out. Duggan and Cooke very good for Galway middle of the field.

I must have been looking at a different game as all the real synical play came from Galway's play.

I do wonder why the GAA can't find a ref from a non-participating province for these big games. Just asking for trouble.

Dublin had a great final quarter and they can not be blamed for the shocking ref, he was a disaster for Gaelic football. I suppose Galway can regroup for the Summer and add a few players. Congrats Dublin you deserved the cup, Ciaran Kilkenny is outstanding and a great ambassador on and off the field. Gaillimh Abu.

Super game, Congrats to the Dubs worthy winners , had the experience in the last 10. Galway just hadnt that extra bit of composure near the end when they had good possessions. Ref looked out of his depth, I'll leave it at that.

Replying To Jack_Goff:  "Another close game gifted to Dublin by the ref. Everything in the last 15 mins went their way. Very classy of kilkenny feigning that head injury.

When are we going to see a match where the ref is clearly biased against Dublin in Croker? Because it's always the opposite. This is the biggest advantage playing all their big games in Dublin. The majority of fans will always be behind them and will pressure the ref into an uneven display.

Football is at an all time low now with Dublins grip on all trophies worse then when kerry were dominant. At least the hurling seems to be going the opposite way."
Galway were naive in the last 10 minutes. Kevin Walsh made too many subs for a start. Also Galway should have gone for goals. Goals win matches. Galway did'nt get one. slán

Take a look again at the foul that resulted in Galway's 3rd point for example. It wouldn't have looked out of place down the road in the Aviva and merited a black card. But as it wasn't committed by someone in a maroon jersey it obviously escaped your attention.

What an opportunity to beat the Dubs.... that game was so there for the taking, after doing all the hard work to contain them and stay in the match then they go down to 14 men and we retreat giving them lots of time with the ball to kill the game....instead of pushing up the field getting in their faces going man for man!

More children crying about referees. I had to listen to it on the hill earlier too. Yous are all the same.

Dublin have won a lot of tight games over the years and it is always down to the ref according to the crying brigade.

It's hard to take yous seriously.

Jesus lads, a lot of whinging here, the ref did not win that game for Dublin, I think the fair minded Galway lads would agree, and not the 'please let Dublin get beaten' gang. Its clear we're not as good as we were, the chance is there for a good team to take us later in the year, let your football do the talking.

Well think plenty of other neutral posters are suggesting referee's decisions were more favourable to Dublin. As for cyncical well let's not start. Again how Cooper, Small amd McMahon stay on the field as often as they do beggars belief. They are great players though, no doubt about that whatsoever. Anyway, am sure Dublin are happy with the win and a good competitive game given they don't get too many until late championship and Galway can now feel they've arrived. So a good day for both.

Refereeing was a disgrace today .Gave Dublin every decision. Plus can't understand how Johnny Cooper stayed on the field

Exactly! But I would fear playing Galway more than Mayo at this moment. A tough team who don't fear the Dubs & have the forwards to do damage. What a summer we have in store. Galway to beat Mayo on the 13th imo.

"Home town ref" a buddy of mine from the metropolis just texted me, totally wrong of the GAA, could they not find one from neutral province? Shambles of a game, Cluxton was given way too much time to kick it out, ref should be disciplined.
