I'd say there's a good chance the double header in Salthill could go ahead on Sunday. The hurling match anyway...might be difficult for Monaghan to travel to Galway though

Fair point but anything on the east is gone.

I'm rightly disappointed, always love a game with the auld enemy :( realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8597 - 28/02/2018 22:31:40 2081351 Link 4 |
Who'll actually make the decision on whether or not the game will be called off or not realdub? Will it be the GAA or the the Dublin county board? I think it was the Monaghan county board that called off our game two weeks ago but I'm open to correction on that.

It would be daft to have these fixtures go ahead. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 01/03/2018 08:26:03 2081375 Link 0 |
What are they waiting for? Vast majority of venues are clearly going to be unplayable this weekend and even if an odd one is the oppsiitoteam and supporters should not be expected to travel in these circumstances. Onion Breath (Carlow) - Posts: 1412 - 01/03/2018 11:00:22 2081392 Link 0 |
It'll be the GAA's call, hence the delay. All club games have already been called off here by county board. catch22 (USA) - Posts: 2148 - 01/03/2018 11:36:02 2081398 Link 0 |
Don't know why they can't make the call on the London/ Leitrim game. Inaroundehouse (Cavan) - Posts: 975 - 01/03/2018 11:48:12 2081401 Link 0 |
I think the GAA should call off all league games this weekend, due to the likelihood of the bad weather continuing over the weekend. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1751 - 01/03/2018 12:25:16 2081412 Link 0 |
I just see that all this weekend's league games are cancelled. Good decision. thelongridge (Offaly) - Posts: 1751 - 01/03/2018 12:31:12 2081415 Link 1 |

Not a drop of snow here and everywhere closed. Well at least the pub is open and I'm heading there now. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11240 - 01/03/2018 15:32:44 2081449 Link 1 |
Jaysus you're doing well, its like feckin Siberia here, a foot of snow on the deck and that wind is starting to blow now. Housebound for the next couple of days at least.

Right decision made safety in this instance has to come first , often wonder how the yanks no matter what allways fullfill their fixtures in American football , infrastructure in Ireland just downright poor , listening to the radio yesterday a primary school in Siberia only closes when it gets below minus 25 Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 01/03/2018 15:50:46 2081454 Link 0 |

Also we have had much worse weather here in the west but there is a difference in east v west in this country. If this weather was only hitting the west no way would the entire country be shut down and the media and public panic buying frenzy that comes with it. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11240 - 01/03/2018 16:36:29 2081462 Link 1 |
In case you haven't noticed there has been a red weather warning issued countrywide so not just the East of the country and why would you shut down the country if it only hit the west coast?
