Can't wait for the game sunday. I gave a feeling we will win it by a couple of points..we have a far stronger team than last year and mcstay will have some problems trying to pick his panel for the league this week.. dave1988 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1059 - 22/01/2018 15:07:19 2069887 Link 0 |

Fully expect Roscommon to win this without much fuss, they could well go through what is a poor div 2 unbeaten or atleast promoted with a game to spare.. cuttothebone (Kildare) - Posts: 163 - 22/01/2018 18:50:22 2069945 Link 2 |
I think it's going to be a very competitive division.we have to travel to tipp and Clare and will get nothing easy

Replace the word Roscommon with Meath cuttothebone and you could be right

I'm a expecting a tough and tight competitive game against what will be by all accounts is a very fit Meath side for this time of year. With our continued problems at midfield i think we will be doing well to break even against whoever they choose as a pairing Rooney,Menton and Flanagan. In Burke,McGill,Keogan etc they have a number of good defenders that will be given the task to mark our most dangerous players while they have plenty of talented forwards in Lenihan,Reilly and O'Sullivan that can cause damage if marked poorly. ispeakwisdom (Roscommon) - Posts: 2487 - 22/01/2018 19:57:06 2069961 Link 1 |
I also think its a competitive division but for Roscommon.. Cork and Cavan to fight it out for 2nd, if Cork wake up its theirs..

Quick Question?? Where has all this "very fit" Talk come from...Only Played 3 games this year and the 2 I was at they Didnt Look any fitter than last year
grahamc9897 (Meath) - Posts: 1174 - 22/01/2018 21:04:03 2069975 Link 2 |
Because Meath are targeting league all out as they have no chance of winning Leinster. Added to the stories I have been hearing from Meath folk namely mentons father who comes from 5 minutes from me originally and has said Meath have been back training well before us anyway so this talk of them been fitter may not be true but if the manager has any clue with them back a month and a half before roscommon they should be or there's something wrong somewhere

Jury is definitely still out on the manager after last years performance

I was at all 3 and yes they looked fittter than last year, wouldn't say very fit, but when you see a 30 something Nicky burke bombing up the field after playing 80+ minutes of football it shows something. Joey wallace is a lot bulkier they seem not to tire even with the games in quick succession. I'd say they as fit as Louth game in championship at this time.

Bryan Mentons father is from Curraghboy in south Roscommon. Was a few years ahead of me in school Athlone years ago. I met him at a funeral recently and he told me when Meath started back training and the work they were doing. If they are not much fitter than Roscommon there is something seriously wrong with the training as they are 5 weeks further down the road than us.

Micky Burke was always fit ..the guy is a diffrent ball game all together !! Look the Wicklow game was irrelevant and Carlow wasn't much better so the only real competitive game was against Longford!! But in saying that we won them ! Andy is doing a good job and hope to see him there for many years but real tests start next week I say ! Heart says a Meath win but just cant see it ! But I hope I'm hopelessy wrong

If the Rossies have any designs on a return to Division 1 then you'd be expecting them to account for the likes of Meath at home handily enough. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13718 - 23/01/2018 10:27:08 2070041 Link 3 |
Not sure about all this talk Meath been super fit. I hope its true. But It didn't help them against Lonford and that game went on for 90 mins. bobkarlgees (Meath) - Posts: 1263 - 23/01/2018 11:23:49 2070052 Link 2 |
Meath and the word fit has cropped up consistently over the last number of years. Regardless of talent their base level of fitness has regularly let them down so it'll be interesting this year

They didn't tire one bit. And let's not forget if we judging on obc then Longford beat Kildare handy previous week, and plenty saying Kildare will beat dubs. Doesn't make sense to me if we viewing Longford as a yardstick.

Unfit I think is the words that have came up. For 40 minutes under mod we were blazing last 30 dead on our feet. We just weren't fit enough
