Lee Keegan and GPS

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Lads I assume as Lee Keegan has admitted throwing the GPS device that he will now face suspension. I suppose its irrelevant as the chap is out injured but surely it will be pursued anyway by the powers that be.

He didn't need to admit it for the GAA to take disciplinary action.

maybe he should not be allowed to use the gps for some time.

Interfering with someone about to take a free kick is a yellow card offence as far as I know.

Don't think he'll face a suspension at all as that all he did.

It was a novel way to try and interfere but that's all it was.

I think he let himself down badly and in all my years its right up there as one of the most unsporting moments in an all Ireland final that Ive personally seen. throwing an object at a player to put them off kicking such a vital score, ive never seen that one before and itll follow him long after he retires and so it should

What would be the point of dragging him over the coals now? Leave him be.

The fact that he will probably retire without a Celtic Cross is more than punishment enough.

This never actually happened, it's a fabrication that seems to have taken hold. The 2nd last kickout had 2 players on the ground - Kilkenny and Keegan.

The last kickout had no-one on the deck. Mayo managed to make a mess of that one all by themselves.

I bet Lee didn't know where he was without it.
It just shows the amount of money the Mayo county board are taking in. Players can afford to throw away the latest technology :D

He shouldn't be all allowed within a 100m radius of a GPS unit

time to get over it. that was last seasons news and stupid to even be debating it the week before Christmas. He shouldn't have done it but it defo was a quick thinking idea. Did it make a difference to the outcome,? no did he hurt someone ? no apart from those who wanted to be hurt, so time to put it to bed. A new season has begun so players are already into a new frame of mind and a lot will be observing ridiculous rules from trainers/managers not the festive season.

I don't think it should be followed up, but it begs the question of disciplinary action at the end of the championship.

We had Young Cormac and the tees.

Lee and the GPS looseing.

Donaghey square punching Aidan O Shea.

Would there be different outcomes in the disciplinary process and outcomes if it was say the first round of the Leinster championship, playing Carlow in Portlaoise. ;)

Usually don't like to be the pedant but seeing as you're post is so classy I can't resist.

Lee Keegan has a Celtic Cross with Westport.

You are of course, technically correct. I should have specifically stated an IC Senior Medal.

For the record, the idea that we might not ever win one does not sit well with me. The cruel reality is that "deserves" has nothing to do with your honours tally. That's sport for you.

Mayo have put Dublin through the wringer far too often for me personally to have anything other than the utmost (albeit grudging) respect for them. They have a couple of characters that I can't warm to, and I think there are a couple more who are being carried somewhat by the rest of the squad.

If (and it's a big if) Mayo ever do make it to the promised land, I can guarantee you that Keegan will be the guy who made it happen.

I'd have a similar grudging respect for Philly McMahon. But he's a class act.

Nothing wrong with you disliking a few Mayo players...the feeling is mutual. When you lash so often in such big games animosity is always going to happen between players and fans although it goes to far on social media between fans for my liking and it's still going to this day

Just don't see this Mayo team winning Sam now.. the best team of all time came along at the wrong time

Any other decade and you'd have at least 2-3 AI's this decade

Think it'll be either Kerry or Dublin next year

Dublin has some serious talent coming through in 2018 and we've a great mix of old and new

Just to name two ( I could add another 4-5 names) but Paddy Small and especially Brian Howard to really push on next year and add more options

Brian Howard will become a massive player

We do have a few players coming through. I don't know if we have missed the boat...most of that team will be around for a while yet, it's what pushed through that will define us. Galway man Martin Brehony reckons we were only third best team this year anyway so maybe we can push on for 2018 ;)

On thing for sure the push and drive for Sam will continue in Mayo and the legacy this Mayo teams All Ireland or not is a lasting and important one on the youth of the county.

The smart ass Roscommon fan who tweeted in Newstalk this evening won't get his wish.

A lot of people have been writing us off the last couple of years but we been close, really I think we should have managed to win one of the last two all Ireland my opinion 2016 was the one. We have heard it said over the last few years that we will never win one in some people's eyes those types of statements really annoys me, none of us really know what could happen in the future. As they say the future is yet unwritten.
