Colman cavanagh. Excellent choice at midfield. Was absolutely outstanding against Derry Donegal down and Armagh and the one tyrone man that tried to carry the game to the dubs in the semi. Outrageous catching of the ball all season. The only disgrace is that he has not claiming two in a row as he was disgracefully left out last year. Parsons nowhere near him this year and went missing in second half against dubs mayotyroneman (Tyrone) - Posts: 1821 - 04/11/2017 02:27:54 2060342 Link 2 |
Agreed Jonny but nothing new from that source.

It must be the snowflakes Brian :) These thread are the same every year everyone gets worked up over the all stars. Cluxton doesn't strike me as the insecure needy type. He has 4 all Irelands and Clarke has two all stars. Those two all stars aren't worth one all ireland medal to Clarke. As for POTY. I'm delighted Moran won it I think he was the best player this year. He was exceptional in the quarter finals, semi finals and final. McCarthy was brilliant too and there was very little in it in my opinion. But again give me an all-ireland medal over POTY any day. I think Cluxton should have won all star for goalkeeper this year. If you offered Clarke and Moran all Ireland medals for their all stars and the POTY award, those awards would be in the Liffey before you get halfway through this sentence. A meeting and ranking should be held after the league , points awarded , same at end of sept , those who performed consistently throughout the year will come to the fore, Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 04/11/2017 07:26:48 2060352 Link 0 |
Andy Moran fully deserved POTY award. Clarke also deserved his all star. Cluxton was a spectator during the Leinster championship and I recall a few dodgy kickouts in one of the Mayo games. Hardly justifies a All Star. Mike_Clitoris69 (Cavan) - Posts: 230 - 04/11/2017 08:25:19 2060363 Link 3 |
And I recall a few dodgy sickouts , outstanding analysis , I mean you've summed up a season there fella , you don't do biography's do you save us all a lot of hassle having to read more than a page

Aidan O'Shea, completely undeserved. When push came to shove this season it was Clarke,Barrett,Boyler,Keegan,Parsons,Cillian and Doherty who pulled Mayo through when AOS was a virtual spectator. 2 of that 7 received awards. The other 5 can feel really hard done by. But because its a 'numbers game' coupled with the fact that AOS is a 'media darling' either of Parsons/Doherty were sacrificed to accommodate him. The All-Star night has become a circus/fashion parade now. hamstring (Limerick) - Posts: 318 - 04/11/2017 10:45:46 2060384 Link 1 |
Performances in the biggest pressure games count for more. Why didn't Morgan get the goalie spot? BlastCalyle (Mayo) - Posts: 206 - 04/11/2017 11:16:58 2060393 Link 0 |
Wouldn't have surprised me if they had given AOS an all star for full back this year..some crazy choices this year dave1988 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1057 - 04/11/2017 11:26:46 2060395 Link 2 |
I haven't seen the All Star results yet, but wished to protest anyway. In fact, I'm outraged, not to mention bitterly disappointed. All those selection panel clowns, every year they have the cheek to disagree with me. In my next post, I'll chuck in some petty insults about some of the lads who got an award. You can't use the phrase 'disgraceful post' and then do a general sweep of 'Dublin posters on here'. Does every single person from Cavan think exactly the same as you or do they vary from person to person?

James McCarthy can't do much more for me to get a POTY. At least he got an all star as he was often left out there too. The problem he had was that Dublin won all their matches. No dramatic comebacks or replays. Minimum amount of games so therefore less exposure, a little bit of irony in how you get recognition. poguemahone (Dublin) - Posts: 365 - 04/11/2017 14:53:07 2060432 Link 0 |
I'd say he represents most Cavan people

Brilliant analysis first consult your prejudices (I hate all Dubs) and then post.

Agree with this post....all of mayo all stars were well deserved I do feel Cluxton should have got the award but Tom Parsons was extremely hard done by should have got his instead of cavanagh.

But at time of writing, not 1 Dublin poster had congratulated their players for winning their awards. (Apart from Mes who I corrected my post for) There are a LOT of Dublin posters showing that success brings out the worst in some people. You win some (or many in recent times) and you lose some. Take your defeats with the same level of humility that you take your victories. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5012 - 04/11/2017 19:15:15 2060466 Link 1 |
While not congratulating my own players I might not have done , the real talk debate is about the periphery players , and what I said was when pushing someone forward it eventually leads to slating someone else , which is sad I would have had parsons personally but don't think I need to slate Cavanagh to make my point

so everyone who thinks a mayo player had a better year then a dub player in a position where its really close is a dub hater?people are allowed opinions!
