It has been proven that Dublin do receive disproportionate funding to population figures. Throwing in an anecdotal story on Dublin players eating caviar & hospitals ????

No it's roughly proportional to population in every report i've seen. Maybe take a break and put up a bit of bunting and a few flags for the hurling final and cheer yourself up eh? Mes Amis joke was completely lost on you. You don't know the difference between real injustice and perceived injuries and injustice. A realiabe source was telling me that the dubs get 5-7 meals delivered to them each day also that the dubs put in orders of up to 20k a month for supplements for the team from one such company. Not bashing, just sharing what ive heard. mayoabuuu (Mayo) - Posts: 4 - 31/08/2017 20:15:34 2041316 Link 0 |
5-7 meals a day.... How much do you think they eat. If that's the case then Mayo have nothing to worry about. The Dublin lad's will be so bloated by the 17th that they won't be able to walk, let alone run..

Your reliable source is not so reliable.

5-7 meals a day?! No professional sports people eat that amount unless you're training for the Iron Stomach competition. Right 20K on supplements. Protein for a month costs €100 roughly. All the fish oils you'd use another €100. Vitamins, acidopillus etc €200. So you'd spend €600 at a stretch on every conceivable supplement. What else Creatine, garlic?!!, echinecea, spirulina.. If you consumed €1,000 you'd be some man. Plus 5-7 meals.. Laois76 (Laois) - Posts: 1270 - 31/08/2017 21:12:03 2041353 Link 7 |
It depends on how hard you are training. Swimmers daily diet : bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4624 - 31/08/2017 21:30:35 2041363 Link 0 |

Again ask waynol who lives in Meath. Would he allow his kids to wear Meath tops? Or would they be interested in doing so.

Jesus I only eat three meals a day and I'm far from an athlete yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11231 - 31/08/2017 21:52:56 2041380 Link 3 |
Well it's different for everyone but if kids start playing with a club in the adopted county and make friends there if they're good enough they'll play with the adopted county. Can depend on the wife. Terry Ferguson's father was Des 'snitchy' Ferguson who played with Dublin. Laois76 (Laois) - Posts: 1270 - 31/08/2017 21:56:46 2041381 Link 7 |
That's true about swimming but the Dublin panel aren't 30 Michael Phelps!!

It sounds like you were let off with one mayoabuuu. Was there alcohol involved with you and that reliable source? Not the Dubs now between their meals! I suppose the 5-7 meals would be a good thing for a county like Laois they'd be so busy feckin eating they'd have no time for drinking! If i was getting 20K a month for supplements i'd save 19K. At the end of the year i'd have saved 228K. After 5 years on the Dublin panel, most are on it for more, i'd have saved €1,140,000. I'd but myself a lovely house.. No mortgage required. Just from supplement saving..

Nope 48% is completely wrong. http://www.gaa.ie/mm/Document/TheGAA/Administration/12/47/63/GAA012_Annual_Report_2015_Financials_for_WEB(1)_English.pdf Page 5 of the 2015 accounts show what's been spent in each year on Games development. It's been consistently 9-10m during that period. 2012 Dublin's biggest year they received €1.588m. That's not 48% of €9.9m. The figures are a lot of rubbish. https://www.balls.ie/gaa/gaa-investment-in-dublin-348120 This article for instance is appropriately on balls.ie because it's absolutely a load of balls. Flat out wrong. Those per person numbers you quote match this article and they are wrong. Whammo86 (Antrim) - Posts: 4226 - 01/09/2017 06:36:06 2041456 Link 2 |
This is not really news albeit I would question some of the figures. Dublin do get meals delivered to them at work everyday - I'm not sure it's 5-7 but it's definitely 2-3. Having said that however most other county teams (at least those at the top end also get meals) - Meath, Galway, Waterford, Tyrone, Tipperary to name but a few all get some meals delivered to them. Re the supplements 20k a month seems a bit high but there is no doubt its a pretty chunky expense for county teams. It's not like Dublin county board are handing out cash for players to get their own supplements however - they are bulk ordered by the county board and distributed to the county teams as required.

If they get meals delivered to them they pay for it themselves. Philly McMahon owns a Fitfood company and the Ballymun lads use this service. Where are people pulling this BS from?

While that may be true of some counties it most certainly is not true of Dublin or Meath for that matter - a number of different people involved in both camps (both players and coaches) have confirmed this to me.
