Replying To Galantis:  "Assuming Mayo win the replay and let me be very clear Kerry would at best be 50/50 to beat Mayo although a lot would favour Mayo

Is this the same Mayo team who Dublin needed 2 own goals and a botched ref decision at the very end just to draw,

The Same Mayo team who inexplicably changed Goalies which cost Mayo 1-3, 1-4 and the best player in Ireland to a Black Card (wrongly in my opinion) and still had a free to got to Extra Time

Is this the Same Mayo team or were they replaced by Aliens......"
The Mayo team that scraped a draw in Dublins worst game of Championship football last year? The Mayo team that were a point down with 30 seconds to go in the same game that they should have won according to most Mayo fans?

Mayo will probably beat Roscommon but their achilles heel is their lack of scoring forwards. A good team but just dont have the razzle dazzle up top to get them over the line against the top teams.

Dubs showed no more razzle dazzle than Mayo over the two games last year and while Mayo were unlucky to lose the first game they didn't play all that well in it either. It depends too JayP who you define as a top team. The Dubs are good at piling up the scores against compliant opposition, Mayo used to be good at that too under Horan, arguably with less forward talent than now. Even in 2015, with Kerry well off their best the scoreline in the final hardly reflected your team's superiority, so no RD stylish win there. I don't think Monaghan have enough faith in themselves to push ye this weekend, but they certainly can produce their own razzle dazzle. Tyrone on the other hand have more faith than ability if you ask me, but despite that I'm sure you'd rather Armagh did ye a favour by putting Tyrone out. Razzle dazzle comes with confidence... check out late bloomers like Bernard Brogan and Paddy Andrews. The young lads coming in have had the path smoothed by these guys, who had to grow their capabilities and confidence on their own.

Replying To TheUsername:  "I wouldn't disagree with any of the points you make mate, i just think they will be weaker opposition this year then previous based on the age profile of the team, recovery time and the miles they have played and number of games they have played. Its not Kerry problem they have played three games to Mayos 7 plus extra time, but i think it significantly decreases there chances.

its an interesting fact, if Mayo were to win the all Ireland they will have to win 9 games. Dublin and Tyrone 6, Kerry 5. The strength of the individual provincial championships is already the subject to debate in another thread so i wont go into it here.

For me the above mean Kerry have a massive, massive chance of breaking the famine this year."
We won our last All Ireland three years ago, it's hardly a famine!

I think we have a good chance too but as I stated in another thread Gavin is using his squad superbly and Dublin are still the best team around. Croke Park is a real fortress for them too.

That said, if Kerry play to their potential and get a bit of luck they won't be far away at all. A fit JOD is critical. If he is missing or only half fit I think we lose a major focal point in attack and it puts Geaney under a lot of pressure to get nearly all the scores from play.

The facts are Mayo should have beaten the self-proclaimed 'Greatest Team of All Time' last year but for bad ref decisions, bad selection decisions and most of all bad luck yet supposedly they have no chance versus the team who have 'no defence' and gave up 'NINE GOAL chances' in the last 2 games

We aren't fools

I agree mate, Kerry have a great chance this year, should Mayo get through they will be knackered in my opinion, of course that doesn't mean it will be straight forward just that I think it will take its toll and they may be a different beast, I would think the same if it was Dublin.

Kerry have a great chance this year, in a lot of ways I think it is make or break or rather now or never for some of the current team. Some are getting on into their thirties, others are getting to that 27-30 age bracket were Celtic crosses need to be pocketed. I agree that Jod and Geaney are vital, they were a bit subdued the last day I thought but both quality, any injury or loss of form would be critical for Kerry I feel.

The half forward line is of interest to me, I think it's a weak enough line offensively, but it is a critical line in my opinion in playing Dublin defensively. For me one of the reasons Kerry won the league final was the high press and that line was critical to that. In the third quater Dublin were at sea with it and it won the day. I think we may see it again, hopefully this time we will be prepared.

I think the back line can be got at and I think should Dublin and Kerry play, Kerry are going to have to play on the edge with a certain amount of cynicism and clever fouling in the right places.

A combination of the above and the undoubted quality Kerry have could win the day, great chance this year.

An interesting theory from a county firmly in second place on the roll of honour, facts ain't excuses buddy boy.
