Mayo vs Roscommon

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Looking forward to Monday, hopefully will be clear conditions and itll be a good clean exciting game. Have my worries about the honest endeavor that will be on show though. No doubt Lee Keegan and his merry bunch of men will continue to pull and drag lads down once hes out of referee eyesight (won't matter about the umpires as they do nothing)

Tis a sad way where the state of the game has gone to - be cyncial or die trying. You'd have to think what the previous greats of the game would make of all the skullduggery going on with Mayo. I wonder if we boo a decision that is missed will there be a national outcry as there was for Saint Andy Moran last week? I somehow doubt it.

Onwards and upwards anyway and may the best honest team win

You really doing some crying and whinging about Mayo pulling and dragging. Can Mayo be cynical? Absolutely they can. Every single top team is. The way you ae going on though you would swear that the Mayo lads were up on top of the Roscommon lads forcing them to give them jockey backs. I haven't come across any neutral observers noting that there was ridiculous over the top pulling and dragging being done by Mayo nor did I hear any complaints from Roscommon fans during the game on Sunday. As for the lads of yesteryear, well we all have a habit a looking at the past with nostalgia but when you see of the games from 20+ years ago it wasn't pulling and dragging, it was lads knocking the absolute living hell out of each other, properly dangerous stuff.

Oh black spot you show your ignorance and obviously that you never kicked a ball nor have a clue what goes on in a football match. Any inter county team that is any bit successful will do a certain amount of pulling and dragging that's every county team every inter county defender. Remember your not vinny murphy or Charlie Redmond you don't have a slot on a local or national radio to try sway a referee. Of course it's the big bad Mayo that are the only team in Ireland that do anything that resembles the 'black arts' according to some posters on here. We haven't won any all Ireland's lately so in my opinion we aren't doing enough pulling and dragging!

If you don't learn to pull and drag smart you won't win anything. What do you think Roscommon are doing better this year.we are far more cynical. I often come against fast young lads and pull and tug at their jerseys the whole game. It's hilarious to hear them whinge and they totally lose focus on their game.the ones that ignore you, show for ball and burn you with pace following with scores are the real footballers. Stop whinging about mayo.although I do think cillian o conor is a dirty player.keegan is class and our own backs are improving at an amazing rate

Rossies need a good start again. A quick fire couple of points or a goal. Mayo will come back at them otherwise.

Looks like it's up to Mayo and Roscommon to provide some entertainment again as the two quarters today have been bore fests.

Lol spodggy glad to think you rate me so highly as to have my thoughts all over national media, it's great to have a fan club I guess!

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought the while argument brought forward for bringing in the black card was to stop cynical play but referee didn't implement that on both teams last week? Seems to be just thrown in for whenever anyone is stopped for a goal chance and that's it. What's next a brown card for anybody fouling in their own 30 yard line consistently?

Not too surprising Lee Keegan is starting midfield for mayo in lineup yet sportsjoe.ie has this as some sort of "bold move". Right decision by them but any auld eejit would see that's where he was most effective. The dark arts force is with him that's for sure!

Very true and Galway v Kerry was boring also. This replay on Monday will be decided on how Roscommon play, if similar to last Sunday this game could take extra time to separate the two if Roscommon drop a few levels then Mayo could well win by a few points to spare.

This nonsense pre-match about Lee Keegan worked for the Dubs last year with the media in tow but that ship has sailed. ..............Your move.

The replay isn't a dance competition. Mayo won't play much different its a consistent level under Rochford at this stage while its not known yet if Roscommon can give another competitive performance.

Not a wise thing to do, leaving yourself short of a vital body part (which you might have a lot of use for on Monday evening).

Hope we do't get any of the play-acting, from either team, that Cooper and McCaffrey got involved in today

What eejet within the GAA decided to have this game at 2pm, they expect both sets of fans to travel on dirt tracks until we get to Mullingar before we see a motorway, I heard from someone in Belmullet that they left at 6am for a 2pm game, last week they left at 8am for the 4pm game, why wasn't this game at 3pm, at least it would give fans a reasonable chance to leave at a decent time instead of now driving and still tired, the trains ticket prices are daylight robbery

Let's hope this quarter final represents the only competitive game in the 4 football games - I believe it will be a tight one I hope. Bar the hurling semi this weekend which was great - the 2 footie quarters have been massively disappointing and shows that football in general is made up of the top 3 or 4 and then all the rest and the super 8s won't change that!

Who knows not fair on the locals thats for sure, reckon the croke park residents would be unhappy with 4pm throw in and pushed for 2 to lessen drunken crowds getting through
