Galway vs Kerry

Replying To Hupgalway:  "I just set down this eve myself and the other half and watched back the Kerry / Clare game and the Kerry / Cork on youtube........ Myself and herself were in "shock and awe" after watching both games! Sthop Kerry are a deadly outfit! It's born and bred into them. I don't know any player and I'm including the Dublin players in this, that could mark james o'donoghue!??? Ffs! Top top class player, what a dream to have him on ur team! Not to mention the likes of Paul Geaney, Kieran Donaghy and half forwards of Michael Geaney, Kevin McCarthy & Donnchadh Walsh. I've cold sweats just mentioning there names!! Christ and then the height of Anthony Maher @ centre field...and to have the likes of Darran O'Sullivan and Johnny Buckley on the bench!! Oh man..... Kerry haven't won the all Ireland n a couple of years and there is only one thing on Fitzmaurice and co's mind and that's to take Sam back off the dubs this year and bring it back down south! I hate saying this as a Galway man but we are only a minor hurdle in Kerry's eyes and no one will stop Kerry this year to be back n a final... Through hell or high water Fitzmaurice and his men will make sure of that.. Eammon Fitzmaurice was @ the Connaught final this year and I'd say he must have thought what a shambles!! I'd say he left Pearse stadium that afternoon saying to himself "what a waste of three hour drive up from Kerry there is defo nothing to worry about for us up here n Connaught" and that's the truth of the matter... All six backs won't stand a chance against the mighty Kingdom.... And that is a fact....7 days is an impossible task to get any team ready for the second best team n the country.. If I had to be really really picky about Kerry, I think there full backs are a bit vulnerable, it is possible they themselves could be under pressure if you ran at them down the middle....but there midfield and forward line counteract this... Look I'm being realistic here, Galway are developing well but not quite there yet as we saw from there Roscommon performance and I fear that if that Galway team that turned up against Donegal last Saturday don't turn up against Kerry next Sunday it could a disaster for this developing squad and set them back years.... It's an awful petty we had to meet Kerry n da quarters because to make it to semi final I believe was Kevin walshs goal this year and to get the monkey of there backs... I'll enjoy the day out and the atmosphere and the banter with the supports, but I will defo have no expectations for a Galway win. If Galway lose by 5 or less it will be respectable result for the Galway men.."
Here here - fantastic post. Completely agree.

If Galway had got an easier quarter final I think they would have progressed but Kerry +5 seems about right.

If they keep Kerry to within 5 plus the league 2 win - I'd be happy enough with that year....its still progression even if Connacht didn't go our way.

Plenty of the U21 team to line out in the FBD and the best to be retained for the league plus further development of our core 22-23 year olds and were stronger again next year. Target for next year MUST be an AL Semi final though

Replying To candlewax:  ""Also Murphy sauntered through Galway players without a hand on him when he wanted to (not often enough for the Donegal lad I brought with me to the game) again, this cant happen Vs Kerry"

Not sure the account name of whoever posted this, this statement couldnt be anymore false. Murphy was cleaned out at midfield, maybe his handy frees and one very good 45 gave the illusion he had a good game , he really didnt. He sauntered once all game and was dispossesed which resulted in a galway counter attack which resulted in a galway score , he was completely at fault for the 2nd goal and in doing so got his keeper sent off. Just to clarify im a michael murphy fan, but between people posting these statements and the likes of brolly saying he tried everything etc they must have been at a different game. Advice for new Donegal manager would be leave Murphy at 14 because between TYrone,Meath and Galway, midfield is not for him."
"but between people posting these statements and the likes of brolly saying he tried everything etc they must have been at a different game"

If everyone else agrees then maybe it was you at the different game? Murphy did make at least 3 runs where he covered about 40 yards and no one laid a hand on him, OK he lost possession one of those times and I'd also question who was running to give him options but yes, he did, on occasion run through Galway as if there was no one there. Difference with Kerry is that is going to cost us.....

Going by online media and the print media in relation to this game I can only come to 1 obvious conclusion - this Kerry isn't rated or more to the point - feared

With due respect to Galway a fine team who play Football the right way and are progressing very nicely - if they were playing Dublin, Tyrone or Mayo they wouldn't be given a sniff of winning but I all hear and see is 'they have a great chance of winning' and 'they will destroy the KY defence'

It's good hear the truth as opposed to patronising nonsense and claptrap from certain posters on here...

I think we could score a number of goals like we did against Kildare two years ago. I expect Galway to provide a sterner test then Kildare but i can see us winning by 15 maybe 16 points if we put the foot down.

These kind of games dont do us much good. A game against Mayo would be far more interesting given the history and tight games in the recent past.

It's going to be a great day out for us, I hope we go toe to toe with Kerry and give it a right lash. No point of going too defensive now at this stage kerry do sometimes have an off day at croker But I think they are reving up for dublin and Dublin and kerry have pulled away from the pack the last 2 years but you never know thats the beauty of sport, I fancy Kerry to go all the way this year

Man I cringe when I see these types of posts.
I expect Kerry to win, I expect us to start slow given our 4 week break but pull away in the end.
Less of the arrogance would be good! leave that to our city cousin's.

Im entitled to my opinion. I feel we will be far too strong for Galway and even though id prefer a tight game I just cant see it.

You can come on here and talk them up all you like.

I'm not talking them up but equally I'm not arrogantly predicting 14/15 point wins.
It may turn out that way but some Kerry posters should tone it down a bit.

Kerry I think you are right but we live in hope. If Galway were to play Kerry 5 games in a row galway might win one but kerry would win the others handy. The only hope for galway is that they hit top form and kerry have an off day,

Yeah I agree about Galway. Difficult to gauge after Saturday and Donegal's no show. They were poor against Roscommon but I think they waited until it was too late. I know the conditions were really against them in that first half but they surrendered it too much and hoped for the best and it backfired. Kerry by 6 or 7 points for me.

It wasnt so much who was running it was more sure he didnt want to pass it until he lost it on the ONE occasion he covered 40 yards, maybe you didnt see that watching at home.
Anyway , Kerry's FF line obviously there biggest threat, bar that line dont think there world beaters, think having an extra man in front of our FB line is a necessity , perhaps Shane Walsh as his pace starting counter attacks could hurt Kerry.

I firmly believe we will win by a big score if Im wrong then so be it. I just think our full forward line is far too good and given our play against Cork I expect them to fire again

No disrespect to Galway intended

What a leap of bloody assumption!

Ive been on here before saying how I was at the game etc. I was actually up there early and was in the terrace ~midfield.

Bring your glasses next time you go to a game you maybe mixing up players - or maybe you don't know some of the players having verve gone to any league games (assumptions are great now that you started them off!)
