Galway vs Kerry

Beat of luck Galway but you're benchmarking yourself against a Donegal team that's been on the slide for a while. And before anyone says I'm only saying that after yesterday you may want to note that in a previous post I predicted Galway to win yesterday as Donegal were over rated.

Concentrate on supporting your own team and how ye will back up the performance v Galway against Mayo

Galway have no chance here, this is a massive step up there defence will not cope with the kerry firepower especially there full back line kerry by 8 plus.

I understand what your saying . I didn't mean it as a slight against Galway. Galway is one our great counties. And is one of the great GAA counties. A great dual county. Third most sucessful football county . The GAA needs a strong Galway . Its good to see a strong Galway. And that team of the late 90s was a great team with great players and brought so much to the game. But I just found the stats above surprising and a bit worrying.
The GAA should be doing more to make counties around the country, a GAA powerhouse like Galway more sucessful. The GAA seems to be happy if Dublin are strong and nothing else.
Anyway Back to the stat Galway have lost to Kerry twice in the last few years and Cork also. I cannot remeber other games maybe people can tell me other loses. They lost in 86 to Tyrone and 87 to Cork. But I think from 88 to 98 and 2009 or 2010 to 2016 they won few Connacht titles . In these two timescales mentioned above included two of their longest periods without Connacht title ever. I'm not sure I think Galway won 1 Connacht between 88 and 98. That was in 1995. I could be wrong. If I am. Sorry
But when you compare to the true glory years of Galway football in the 50s and 60s when in 10 years they won 4 All Irelands., there's a difference. We need to see a stronger Galway. To see a great county like Galway go nearly three decades of the last 35 years without win in Croke Park, the GAA should do more. We need to see a strong Galway. Again I'm not having a dig at Galway , here a great GAA county . It's more that GAA don't seem to care that one of our great counties have not been as sucessful. And with the growth of Connacht rugby You would think GAA would do more to help or prioritise a county like Galway.

I think this could be a real battle of the forwards. Not that convinced of the Kerry or Galway full back lines. I'm hoping for a right old fashioned shoot out with Kerry coming out on top. Really looking forward to this one, hoping for a cracker

The Kerry juniors would have beaten Donegal they were that poor
Galway were kicking scores without a hand been put on them
they will give Kerry a good game being realistic we are away head of Galway
kerry by 11 points

Everyone knows Galway are a Croke Park team and that when they get there they play at a far higher level which underlines the serious danger we are in for next Sunday

I can't wait though, I think it will be the game of the year between 2 very evenly matched open natural Footballing teams , I'm hopeful we'll squeeze through by a couple of points but am on red alert after the showstopping display by the Tribesmen last night

Hope it's a good game and kerry don't pull away too soon.
They will win in the end and look nailed on finalists at this stage.

How are Galway a Croke Park team? They haven't won a Championship match there since 2001. I wouldn't read anything into their win last night. Donegal are a shambles and a pale reflection of their 2012 team. Kerry will win this at a canter

Ye'll hardly beat Kerry but I certainly hope ye do and I wish our Connacht neighbours the best.

Galway destroyed a fancied kerry U21 team this year. We are not at the same class as the kerry senior team but I don't expect kerry to win this at a canter. Galway will be well up for this game as massive underdogs bewear of their bite.

Wait though... if they're "only as good as their last game", then they'll hammer Mayo out the gate like they did to us. In their last game.

But this thread is about Galway v Kerry so I'm going to pull it back a wee bit.

I think the wide open spaces of Croke Park could really ask some serious questions of our defense, though at least we seem to have shored-up the goalie issue!

Hard to see past a Kerry win, but I've learned from my pessimism coming up to the Donegal game so I'm going to keep my mouth shut and just row in behind the lags. G'wan the Tribe!

#MGGA!

Well this is a lovely place to be, quarter finals at croker. After the debacle against the rossies I just didn't see yesterday coming. I don't care how poor Donegal were, we played well.... if we can do the same on Sunday we will put it right up to Kerry. Experience may tell in the end but Galway football is heading in the right direction. Back in division 1, back into a quarter final, and hey, you never know, we've beaten one team beginning with k in croker this year, let's tear into the kingdom and see what happens... hon Galway!!!

So is it your position that on a public GAA forum, people should only comment on topics related to their own county?

From the off yesterday Galway bought intensity and pushed up on the opposition's kick out which was sadly lacking v Roscommon.

The introduction of Ian Burke into the forwards and Sean Armstrong's return really have us in good shape forwards wise . . .

But our full back line really worries me especially up againist Donaghy, Geaney and O Donoghue.

Maybe maybe not but why are you mentioning Mayo v Roscommon in a Galway v Kerry thread? Sounds like when you looked at my county you saw a red rag
