Bit harsh on Mullinalaghta there now. I'm sure they were playing at least Intermediate grade then so they were around!!

In terms of the Mostrim vs Abbeylara match. Did Abbeylara not beat them in the group stages easy without some key players which included Smyth, Crawford and McHugh. With them players returning for the semis they should breeze past a Mostrim team that is very luck to be there. I predict an Abbey Mull final again with Mull winning by quite a distance if I'm been honest.

Yeah I don't see abbey having any proplems against edgeworthstown. 3rd final in a row for them.. they would deserve to win one

Can't look beyond mullinalaghta this weekend. There are the complete team and very big and stong and I think they will have to much for this relatively young clonguish team. Mull by 4 or 5

Not going to come on here and talk about referees because they get to much attention. Apart from some terrible decisions from Maguire it was a truly enjoyable game of football. No doubt we were watching the future county champions yesterday.. which team that will be am not to sure. Clonguish look the better team. Actually the look the better team every time they play mullinalaghta and without some very easy frees going against them yesterday they would of won. But mullinalaghta are still there and will be county champions untill someone goes and beats them

Great crowd at the intermediate final last sunday. The standard of refereeing was poor in my opinion. At least the right team still came out on top.

My god, why do people always bring referees into it. It was a great Intermediate final, great crowd. Better team won, Connolly's were better in first half but missed to much, Rathcline were better in second half and won a tough game. But as a neutral I couldn't see a problem with the ref. I think people need to learn the rules. Every game refs are been brought up and half the time its because people don't know the rules

Congratulations to St Columba's Mullinalaghta in winning and retaining the Senior Championship Title.
You showed real character by not allowing yourselves been dragged into the Abbeylara game play ,of this dragging and pulling and hitting off the ball.
James Mcgivney, Donal Mcelligott and player of the match Rian Brady was a joy to watch.
Wishing all the best in the Leinster campaign and I know all of Longford will be supporting you.

That was a very poor county final this year

I would have to agree with the two previous posters comments. But Mullinaghta can only beat what is put in front of them and on this occasion Abbeylara brought very little to the table with there negative brand of football and with none of there star forwards scoring from play and with only 2 points from play over sixty minutes it was indeed a very poor performance.
The Mullinaghta fullback line has to be complement for holding the Abbey star Robbie Smyth scoreless from play not an easy task, But the quote one trick pony comes to mind.
Mullinaghta were very much on top in midfield
and that layed the foundation for a comfortable victory and in the forward line Rian Brady was on fire with great assistance from the mighty Chops, James Mcgiveny and Jason Matthews despite the roughhouse tactics off the Abbey backs. Massive congratulations to to Rian Brady on his well deserved man of the match award,is he Longford new Paugie Davies.
The very best of luck to Micky and the lads in the Lenester championship. Have to feel sorry for Abbey on there third county final loss in a row lot's of good young footballers if given a chance, poor management have let you down but heads up your time will come.
Well done to Referee and officials on keeping a lid on what was niggling encounter.

Very well said paddy.mc. very accurate summary of the county final. Feel of abbey losing 3 years in a row but soon teams have to realize its easier to win a game by playing football and trying to win rather than just trying to stop the other team winning by pulling and dragging. well done Mullinalaghta.

Some amount of bull____ about Abbeylara pulling and dragging on this form.
Was it not Mullinaghta had a player sent off for pulling and dragging or was I at a different game. A Mullinaghta forward should have been red carded for a lung on Conor Berry same player already on a yellow. And then to the diving antics of the Mullinaghta midfielder and TV star trying to get Gavin Kelly sent of.
Mullinaghta were the better team end of story.

As I understand, Mullinalaghta is a half parish in north Longford. In that case they can be very proud of their performance against St Lomans. The latter is noted for poaching promising players from far and wide and in fact have two Offaly men on their team. So it was not comparing like with like, more like David v Goliath ! Well done Mullinalaghta.

This contributor seems to have a problem with Lomans , there was no poaching just a good team players are happy to join.
I see he is from Westmeath he obviously is not happy with St Lomans winning the 3 in a row.
Some hope of him getting behind the Westmeath team in Leinster.
And do not forget who won this fixture last year.

I presume he will not be happy with Moorefield having Kerry men on the team either.

I see Rathcline are staying Intermediate this year. I hope that doesn't mean a reprieve for one of the relegated teams. Far too many so called 'Senior clubs in the county. Any word on championship draws or start of the leagues?
