Very good debate lads, backed up by a lot of info. Enjoyed it.

Good to hear that you think diving is acceptable in certain circumstances. Pity Aidan O Shea gets so much abuse on here still to this day for something that wasn't even near as bad v Fermanagh. And just so we are clear it wasn't a black card by the rules, no matter what way you spin it. I don't mind a debate but when your whole argument is he got what was coming to him it doesn't really sit well with me.

As for Pat Spillane, he just stated the rules of the game which Connolly had obviously broken. No hidden agenda here, Pat speaks his mind, like it or not. so there's no conspiracy theory at work. I doubt very much if he is that bothered about Dublin that he had to resort to using the Connolly situation as a distraction. Gavin completely overreacted."
Dublin have the monopoly on arrogance.??? That coming from a Kerry man. You are having a joke there...

Kerry are the most arrogant county in the country and always have been.
Also the worst losers in the world.
Fact.

As for the perennial cute hoorism and condescending views on other counties. Well that is one title Kerry will never lose.

Replying To TheFlaker:  "Sometimes posters on here just make the daftest statements. You can argue about the black card if you want but to say Mayo didn't suffer when Keegan went off is one of the stupidest statements I have ever read, ever. You don't have to make stupid points just to try and prove a point. Mayo last by a point and lacked a cutting edge especially in the last 10 minutes. Keegan was one of our main scorers and attacking platforms, in case you missed the other games and the first half in the build up to the soft black card. Reading an awful lot of mush from Dubs posters in the last couple of weeks lads."
Cutting edge? If you're depending on a half back to get or create enough scores to win an all Ireland than you'll never win one. You need forwards to get some scores for ye. 0-3 from play from your forwards won't win anything. I know Keegan is one of Mayo's best players, but I honestly don't think not having him for the second half cost you the all Ireland. Your goalkeeper's performance and lack of scores from your forwards and midfield were the reason you lost.

Where did I say it's a positive that we need our half backs to score? Where did I say it cost us the All Ireland? What has that got to do with anything. I was stating a fact that he is one of our chief scorers whether we like it or not. And our best player. But you said he wasn't a big loss as we defended well. Zzzzzzzzzz. He was a massive loss. Jesus there is some mince being talked on here lately.

The premise put by the Cavan poster was that Dublin get all the "big calls" and that's why they won last year. I replied to that by saying I didn't think Crowley not getting the free and Keegan black card were big calls that decided the results and I explained why in detail. So that's the context in which im talking about the Keegan black card.

That wasn't the premise put forward by me.

If you took that from what I said (despite me repeatedly saying that I wasn't offering a personal opinion) then maybe that says more than I need to. . .

Talk to the Cavan poster if you want about Crowley and the black card decisions, I couldn't care less. I am talking about your silly post about us losing our best player. You can try and flip flip if you want. You said because Mayo played well defensively that Keegan wasn't that huge a loss. That is nonsense. You then pointed out that we shouldn't have to depend on half backs to score bla bla bla, again totally besides the point. I'll say it again, whether you think it was a deserved black card our not we lost a huge player and one of our main attacking platforms, that is a fact. So please stop talking nonsense.

Hold your horses there Cavanman. This is what you said:

Dublin are getting the money in the bank early this year. . .come semi final or final time when a big call goes their way (again), they'll throw this whole saga up and claim it all evens itself out.

You clearly state an opinion that these were big calls, which you go on in your next post to identify as the Crowley and Keegan incidents. You also have an opinion that they went Dublin's way. I didn't argue that they didn't go Dublin's way. I only argued against your opinion that they were big calls. Now by saying they were big calls, what other premise were you putting forward other than these calls were decisive? That is, that they had a major impact on the result. Can you tell me what your premise was when describing them as big calls if you now say that it wasn't that Dublin won because of them?

I didn't say Keegan wasn't a loss. Of course he was a loss. I said Mayo didn't suffer much as a result of him being off the field as regards how the game developed. I also said i don't think losing him cost you the all Ireland. That's my opinion. If that's my opinion, then it follows that I don't think it was a call which had a bearing on the outcome. Now that obviously isn't your opinion. You are a big fan of Keegans. You say he's your best player. You think if he had been there in the second half he would have had the cutting edge and been attacking platform. Ok. Well we'll never know. But I am entitled to an opinion without you saying in your three posts that im making "daft statements", talking "mush, mince and nonsense". After us winning a hurling all Ireland and winning Sam again, I would love nothing more than Mayo winning Sam. So I am not anti-Mayo. But they need to stop clinging to excuses.

I never said you were being anti Mayo and I never said Keegan going off was the reason we lost the All Ireland. I said he was a massive loss, you didn't think he was a big loss. You can twist it whatever way you want but it was a daft statement. I never make excuses and the threads after the All Ireland will show that. Again I will repeat we lost our best player and one of our main scorers who you thought wasn't a big loss. It was a silly statement no matter what way you spin it.

It is getting tedious, yes.

I'll finish by saying that I agree with Flaker - it's ludicrous to say that losing their best player wasn't a big call.

Dublin may have won anyway. They may not have. We'll never know.

Did I say Dublin get all the big calls? No I didnt. The goal in the Kerry game was a big call that the umpire could have interpreted as not having crossed the line.

Replying To royaldunne:  "Well Spillane will have to name who got text, I presume they will confirm it and publicly say who sent it, then that person can give reason for same, was it off his own back or instructed."
Clarity needs to brought to this issue quickly, there's currently a black cloud over Dublin football and Pat Spillane.
